Recently shot of 10 rounds with a M16 and couldn't believe how easy an accurate it was with bugga all kick back. With no real gun experience behind me I can see how these things are real killing machines.

Anybody else tried anything similar?

Guns dont kill people, i kill people!

I shot a few different guns at a gun club once, don't know much about them, I know the heavy one with the kick was the 44 magnum. First three went through the centre of the target, then I progressively got worse. It had a massive kick compared to all of the other guns. There was an asian tourist there at the same time as me, couldn't aim for shit. Hit the rope that was holding up he target, the guy that works there was like WTF?!

Any chance you can kinda borrow it out like a library book next time we play Collingwood?

I have very limited shooting experience, but I'm always surprised at how accurate modern rifles are. Even a totally untrained muppet like me can shoot pretty accurately at a decent distance with an unscoped .22.

I suspect TV/Movies decreased my expectations of how accurate weapons actually are. Everyone knows that when you see heroes running through a hail of gunfire untouched it's not exactly real, but it's still a shock when you find out how easy it is.

Where did you get to shoot an M16? I've fired semi's before and there great fun, but the M16 is in a league of it's own.

Cu Chi tunnels. 30,000 dong a bullet, minimum 10 bullets. Choice of M16, AK47 and I think M60 machine gun. Should have done it 7 yrs ago when you go buy livestock to use as a target.

Well the M16 was designed with the US Army in mind wasn't it?

Well I must say, one has always found one's Martini-Henry more than sufficient when one has found it necessary to get OG on some busta.

I think people have a tendency to barely aim properly when in an actual firefight, though. Seen a couple of pretty hilarious/disturbing videos of the Afghan army in action - you'd probably put even money on being able to run in front of them and emerge unscathed.

Damn i thought this was related to something else.

in my experience with the reserves i was pretty accurate with the F88 Austeyr (variation of the Steyr AUG, if you play enough video games you'll know what it looks like) after having no gun experience at all. although it's not necessarily easy. not sure how it compares to other guns though. i can't really recall correctly but i think my best was getting 5 shots within 89mm of each other from 200m away.

also, you'd be surprised at how hard it is to actually aim properly when standing up or even crouched. being prone is by far the best position for aiming.

Too bad you can't translate it to being good at Modern Warfare you goose :p

AUG is good :thumbsu:

:D :thumbsu:

Seems every time we play Essendon I end up wishing I had a sniper rifle so I could knock off some bastard who decides to have his solitary good game for the season.

Group and Zero is done at 100m mate.

Steyr is pretty acturate, just a shit scope on it (1.5x)
M4 is very accurate and reliable, ive only fired with iron sights

Any footage in movies where people get shot from more than 40m on the move with a handgun is seriously delusional. Its extremely hard to fire accurately at anything over 20m
