Anyone here do it? I have the elgato HD60 S game capture device. I'm a total noob at this but I don't really understand the need to use software like OBS or Xsplit when you can just use the elgato's native software to trim/edit and upload content. Anyhow, the biggest problem I have at the moment is that after I upload the content to youtube, the colours in the vid look muddy/murky and too dark. Anyone else had this problem?

Is your console outputting in HDR? Sounds like HDR content being converted and the colours going to poo.

Need a PS4 mate....Literally no software needed unless you plan on editing

Well I figured out an easy fix for the colour/darkness problem. After opening the Elgato game capture software, go into Device settings (expand Device and click on the settings wheel), open the "Capture" tab and set the HDMI Color Range to Expanded. This fixes the darkness problem I was having, but you can also alter the contrast, brightness, saturation and hue by going into Device Settings and opening the "Picture" tab, then manually adjusting those attributes to your liking.

The problem I still have is the frame rate on the recording is dropping way below 60fps, all the way down to like 29fps. I'm tinkering with different settings like going from 1080p down to 720p, in an effort to sacrifice quality to improve performance. This is a tricky business..maybe my internet speed is the problem (still waiting on NBN in these parts).

I stream on Twitch with PC. OBS pretty much gives you heaps of stream editing and control in real time. You can also use it to record stuff that will give you better quality video that you can upload.

This can probably be solved capturing to a PC with a good processor and using OBS to record it. With streaming the quality depends more on your upload speeds.

Yep I've tried streaming to twitch - it's a rather futile endeavour with my current upload speeds. I'm just holding out for NBN. I have installed Xsplit rather than OBS, as I heard that OBS is a bit complicated/tricky to use.

You can get top quality video just recording and uploading later. Streaming requires good upload, mine ranges from 480-720 due to the 2000 upload cap I have (no NBN). Don't set upload higher than you can achieve or it will stutter too much. OBS is pretty easy to use but its mostly for streaming.
