Re: Stewart Dew ..too old , too fat , too slow ,TOO GOOD

It was ridiculous to see this fat guy tearing the Cats apart but he did it damn well in that 3rd quarter and played a massive part in setting up the win.

His experience was certainly a major factor on the day. :thumbsu:

Re: Stewart Dew ..too old , too fat , too slow ,TOO GOOD

He changed the game with Sewell and Rioli in the 3rd quarter and the Hawks didnt look like getting beaten after that .
Well done .

Was drafted by Clarko specifically for yesterday - brilliant strategy that payed off big time ... kicked or set up 5 of the 6 goals in the 3rd quarter in an amazing display.

Re: Stewart Dew ..too old , too fat , too slow ,TOO GOOD

Yes, there was plenty of laughter and mirth from opposition supporters when the Hawks recruited Dew, but who's laughing now? From memory, the only people not laughing were Power supporters because they knew how good the guy could be.

I loved seeing the big fella tear Geelong apart with his field kicking, composure and gamebreaking goals. He was a massive part of the premiership victory.

Re: Stewart Dew ..too old , too fat , too slow ,TOO GOOD

Clarkson bought him in to the Hawthorn to do just that with his great kicking. That third Quarter effort won the Hawks the game!

Re: Stewart Dew ..too old , too fat , too slow ,TOO GOOD

An outright champion! You guys are very lucky to have the 'offspring' of chocko's experience and professionalism (coaching staff & couple of players). It definitely paid off! Well done!

Re: Stewart Dew ..too old , too fat , too slow ,TOO GOOD

i was impressed! skilifull blighter!

Yeah he was great in that 3rd term.

The goal that resulted from the combined effort with Mark Williams, when they were outnumbered 4 or 5 to 2 was one of the best hard-fought goals I have seen. Their second, thrid and fourth efforts were increadible.

Re: Stewart Dew ..too old , too fat , too slow ,TOO GOOD

I reckon Stewie has another couple of seasons left in him too.

He'll become the poster boy for a late-in-career hiatus to freshen up; that year off certainly got his passion back. I loved seeing him fire up.

Congrats to Stewie and Clarkson and whoever else was involved in resurrecting his career.

Re: Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

He is a different body shape but on his day he can turn a game and he a real handful.

It was a gamble by the Hawks but they have ayoung list and he could be a great pickup.

Good call :thumbsu:

Stewey Due! :D

Re: Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

they say horizontal stripes are unflattering if you are carrying a few extra pounds.

After yesterday, I would have to say that vertical stripes are equally unflattering if you are really fat.

But having said that, he was good yesterday, real good

2 Time premiership player now

Can i say that in the third quarter i got goosebumps i was so excited watching the big fella take it to another level before our vary eyes

Seen alot of football and this was such a moment. from where hes come from, to retiring, to being criticised about coming back, the weight problem, his lack of training, everybody saying he would break down, too slow, too old for hawthorns list.

I am a melbourne supporter but i must say i am so proud of Stuart Dew i really believe he deserves his share in the success

If anybody watches the game again in the next few days, just watch the passion dew plays with in the third

The very thing this game is about.

Couldnt agree more with you brother he is a class act - best left foot kick goin around and he had a hand in 4 goals in the 3rd - fantastic effort

At the game the stuey DEEEEEEEWWWWWW cheers were almost as loud as the HOOODDGGGYYY ones. We appreciate the big fella:thumbsu:

I was jumping out of my skin when Dew turned it on in the third. An absolute champion, I feel so happy for him.

And apparently Clarkson didn't even tell him to go forward during the third. He doesn't know who did, so Dew either did it on his own initiative or the players took it upon themselves to cover for him.

Stuart Dew, we love you.

Spot on Papa G. Spot on

Watched it again yesterday. At that stage it was game in the balance. It was a speculative pass at best and Dew outbodied and held a contested mark before bombing it to Buddy, Cyril crumbed and goaled....

Stewie then kicked a further 2 himself in the next 5 minutes as well as giving one away to Willow....

Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't taken that mark though...
