ive always wondered this, and with all the talk of .. do you follow didak or collingwood, good time to bring it up.

even though it will never happen, if collingwood and carlton decided to trade their entire lists. so we get their players they get ours...

what would you do??:p

i think i posted this question on nicks once and everyone bagged me for it haha. but yet noone answered the question.

I follow Collingwood, not the players.

I would adopt the players that came to us. However, I would be absolutely gutted, I would probably lie in bed for days sobbing.

In response to your underlying question, I will be furious with Collingwood if we trade Didak, FURIOUS. However, I'll keep supporting the club, and I'll keep buying my membership, because at the end of the day, I'm a Collingwood man, despite Didak being my favourite player.

but see, this is where it gets difficult

i would be gutted if didak left because he is collingwood to me, but he is only one bloke. the club goes on and so would i,

but if ALL the players were traded...is it still the same? dont the players make up a large part of what collingwood is and what we support??

this is what im really trying to get at

I love Dids but I follow the Pies. I have said before if we traded Didak then I wouldn't renew my membership.

But given what has transpired I will continue to renew.

FWIW, the reason I am most ticked off with Dids, is that he was blind drunk, 6 days from our biggest game for the season. Can you picture a Geelong player doing that or a Jimmy Clement or Bucks during their player days doing that?

See, to a certain extent, u start following a club for a number of reasons - family traditions, a player who takes your attention, few players, it could be as stupid as the colour of the guernsey or just the way a team plays....

Im actually from india..and have been here the last 7 years and am hardcore collingwood - for me it was a combination of these factors bar the first.
It would be especially tough for someone who based their decision as a kid or a teenager growing up on say a particular player.

All the guys who put up that banner probably would still follow collingwood, but the message put up by them just goes to show, and i speak for most of us - that we all do love didak, coz of his skill and passion for the club. For heavens sake if someone's son makes a mistake - he'd give him a few chances cos everyone's son's make mistakes (by which i mean other club's players). Our players come under the spotlight the most.

But to answer your question lol - As much as i love didak, I may have started liking the club for whatever reason, but i like the players now because of the club

I see what you're saying, and like I said, I would be beyond shattered. But I could never support another club. I would watch the players with great interest at Carlton, but there is no way I'd start supporting Carlton. Collingwood is my club.

If Collingwood actually decided to trade their entire list with Carlton, I would probably stop following AFL.

If we were to trade a whole list, i'd tend to think about it like this: 'is the list good enough to play for Collingwood', instead of 'is Collingwood a good enough club for this list...' Using that line of thinking, I'd support the Club first, and as the players learn to adopt our culture/gameplay/tradition, they'd eventually fit into the Collingwood 'mold' anyway (with all of the stigma attached to the club)...

If Collingwood sacked its entire list and the England Cricket team were put in their place I would still follow Collingwood. in fact i would still follow Collingwood if they only won one flag in 50 years!

In saying that - this new blueprint of the future of the club being drawn up on Tuesday should include supporting Alan Didak.

He is seriously only guilty of drinking when he shouldnt... same as the Shaw brothers.

and lying to the club... same as Heater.

If Didak is traded for that - what should happen to Heath? I mean he's the only one who has broken the law. Dont be sucked in by the media and communities hatred of Collingwood.

Kerr, Farmer, Tarrant, Steve Johnson, Fevola, Kane Johnson ALL have done much worse and everyone of them is still contracted at their clubs - they all broke the law! Didak didnt... and broke team rules once. Just like Heath and Rhyce did. They all should stay.

Lol @ Hellfire sobbing under the blankets.:D

Well, Judd wouldn't be bad, and I get a hell of a lot of laughs out of Fev. And Murphy is an Irish name.....

But then, he's no Marty, and the Total Player Transfer may not involve trading Rocca back to Collingwood, so then what would I do?

Too hard, God. I think I'd just have to go back to reading Epicure and A2 instead of the sports section, and abandon my brief life in sport.:o

I agree with TRS... if this äctually" happened, football would effectively be broken and I would possibly cease to support it.

Beyond that, ifor me it will always be Collingwood, from beginning to end. I've seen players I love go to teams I hate before, but my love for Collingwood will not diminish.

That sounds like a Celine Dion song. :o
