Stay away from the seats at the city end at ground level near the players race. The sun shines in your eyes all day long there in afternoon games and is so bad you are better off just watching the game on TV IMO. It's shocking.

My old man and i had seats there when we first became members many years ago before we switched and got seats on the other side of the ground. I would never sit there again.

I am a bit worried about this new stadium and how they are going to allocate seats there. Existing members better get first choice. I will be trying to avoid the equivelant seat in the stadium like the plague. The angle of the sun in afternoon games is an important factor in deciding where you get your seats at Subi.

I was gonna post a thread asking about arvo sun but thought it unworthy of a new thread, but now that ones been started for me i'll chime in...

I've only sat once behind the Eastern goals, but it was early in a season on a friggin 38 degree blindingly bright day which sucked... for the derby ive got directly behind the goals in line with the northernmost goal post... now obviously if its overcast thatd be great (no rain though please), but on a clear sky day this time of year, with the sun lower in the sky is it still shocking to watch the game, or is the sun more off to your right??

Are these near the bed of nails?

There is a shocking "bed of nails" at subi if thats where you are referring to... very top level of the western grandstand where theyve taken out the plastic seats (restricted viewing) and just left of the metal bar work sticking up... is it still there? I phoned last year and complained coz my kid slipped when getting to her chair (last one end of row before the uncovered metal bits start) and she fell right onto one of the metal bars sticking straight up and gouged her skin... hopefully its been made safe now though?

Ummm actually I wasn't, but that sounds horrible. Not surprised though, considering the general state that Subi is in. I was attempting (very poorly apparently) at some humour at the expsense of the previous poster and probably should've used some emoticons... :o:o

Nah you're good - I knew it was one way or the other that you meant - moreso like I am the only one with an association to the more literal "bed of nails" at subi... so yeah lets go with the pick up on concrete pillows as a subtle laugh :thumbsu:

Speaking of laughs... <<< my avatar cracks myself up - love that new AAMI ad :D

i have tickets next to the eagles race for the derby.i guess it would be good sitting there, BUT THE SUN!! why cant both the derbys be our home games so i can sit in the shade behing the goals:p:p

I sit near there for my membership seats and if you wear a hat & sunglasses, you will be fine except for the start of the forth quarter. Then the sun gets below your hat but not the stand. The sun should drop behind the stand about hald way through the 4th quarter

If you're a member and you have to put up with the venue/sun/crappy seating etc every second week I understand its pretty frustrating (and I did have a whinge at the condition of the stadium from my last visit for the Hawks game) but do consider how fortunate you folks are to be able to be there for every game... theres plenty of supporters, this one included if I lived in Perth, who'd just about give their first born and would gladly put up with any inconvenience to get their hands on a seated membership.
