On Saturday night when the boys were a bit down it would have been good if the "cheer squads"(Westcoast and Midstrength) had got into the game a bit.

Its always left upto other people in the crowd to get the crowd going, ie. the guy 2 blocks from the goals who gets the wave started.

Quarter time would have been ideal to start something, why didn't the cheersquad behind the goals do something? I hope the people in these squads pay for their seats cause otherwise the club and CUB aren't getting their monies worth.

And why do the Midstrength crew wear red? What happens when we play Essendon or Freo or anyone with red?

I'll get off my high horse now ;)

Top post! I notice that guy who always gets the Mexican Wave going at 3 quarter time. I noticed there was only 1/11 home games where the wave didn't get off the ground.

Is it just me or are there 'less red' people in the Red Army this year? It seems that its been taken over by all those Mitre 10 flags.

My experience with pretty much any cheer squad points to them being a bunch of self important elitists who believe they are above the rest of the supporters...

But lets face it - the majority of people that attend the games aren't vocal enough - naturally they aren't all footy nuts like us (I'm assuming we are all footy nuts, I mean, who else would spend their time posting about it on an internet forum?) but sometimes it's a bit deflating when no one else is getting into it.

I might not like cheer squads but I don't think its completely up to them to get the crowd more pumped (no doubt they should do what they are there for though..) - the club itself should promote getting excited and making more noise at games, but I doubt they would do that..

good idea bj. the club should put up on the scoreboard cue cards
like at the recording of an american sitcom.
cheer now.
clap now.
boo now.

Geez, the Perth Cheersquads might be like that.. But i can guarantee you that the Vic. one isnt like that at all.. Tell me why you think that the members of the cheersquads believe they are above the rest of the supporters?
I'd like to think that they are the same as all other supporters, difference being they spend more time to support the boys by making run throughs (or banners for people who dont know)..

I for one dont think that i am above everyone else, yet i am a member of the Victorian Eagles Cheer Squad..
Please dont base your opinion on one set of people.. Its just biased..

You must have a big head to fit in that much ignorance!

Whould you call Joffa a "self important elitist"????

i think your confusing them with MCC and AFL members

haha i help the guy start the mexican wave. he sits in the seat behind me. so when it happens next think of the theorangapple yelling with rob (thats the guys name) to get everyone's attention.

it was hard at first last year cause no1 really understood or expected it. but now its like a tradition. i totally respect rob, he gives it everything he's got. its a mightly huge effort.
