Is this horse really a champion?

Yes it won the Melbourne Cup but that was one of only four career wins to go with 10 placings over a career that spanded 42 races.

The owners wouldve done it justice by retiring it after its Cup win, from then on it had 20 starts for 3 placings.

oh and this comes from all the fuss he causes each spring when punters realise it really is Subzero who is the clerk of the course.

Who says the horse is a champion? He's no Kingston Town, but he's an ex-Melbourne Cup winner with a range of fancy tricks who is good value with the kiddies. I like him. Long reign Subzero, a lovely and intelligent old horse.

He won a Melbourne Cup, that's it. I could name 100 better horses since 1992. Anyone who uses the word champion and Subzero in the same sentence is a moron.

As for retiring him after his Cup win - assuming he was sound - probably the dumbest idea I've ever heard.

Okay, fair enough, but what's the point of the thread? Subzero retired over a decade ago, why randomly try to tarnish his name? As I said, the most kind natured horse you could hope to come across. Not exactly a champion of the turf but he was a good horse and his a champion in nature.
