Hey Bombers supporters!

Just wondering, for this Sundays game - who are the main players we (Geelong) need to worry about?

Lloyd - looked good last week
Watson - seems to have improved alot

Then the young bridage of shall i say it "Baby Bombers'...they look quick!

Just wondering who the Dons supporters rate as the best/most important players in their team.

Cheers and good luck for Sunday!

Obviously Lloydy, he had a great game on Monday kicking 6 goals, could've kicked a few more but missed a couple of opportunities.

Watson, he's the clearance machine, puts his head over the ball, fantastic courage and great user of the ball, kicking occasionally lets him down at times however.

Houli, will be a fantastic player for us for many years, great speed and has a perfect drop of the football when he kicks. Every disposal hits the target. Has great endurance and will test Geelong.

NLM played a great game kicking 4 goals, he had permission to roam around the ground and gathered some quality possessions. Will test Geelong's defence if played as an attacking option.

McVeigh is an absolute star, and an underrated one at that, courage, skill and a desire to prove himself in the wake of Hird's departure. He thinks that he's the bloke to stand up and fill the void.
I think he may be right too.

The trio of Fletch, Michael and Ryder will be a great match for the Geelong forwards in Mooney, Hawkins and Johnson.
Hille and Laycock should be dominant in the ruck and present tall options up forward. If memory serves me correct Geelong got smashed in the ruck against Port but then again if Ottens is fit then it will be quite an even contest.

We need to see a bit more improvement from Stanton who didn't get a heap of the pill (no doubt under instructions from Kinghts to take Rawlings out of the play.)
Dyson, got less than 10 disposals. Not sure if he'll play but if he does he'll need to step up.

We may have Winderlich, Welsh and Lovett back in the side if they're fit, that'll add a bit more pace and strength to our backline and midfield.

In closing i think that it should be a brilliant, fast paced match between these two fantastic clubs.
Best of luck to Geelong for Sunday and for season 2008.

Id assume its expected to be another whopper crowd?
Am considering going again so pre booking tickets would be the best way to go?

Watson last year averaged the most disposals for time spent on ground in the AFL. Played 80% this week and knocked up a lazy 31 touches and a clearence machine.

Mondays game.. first quarter deep in the back pocket?
Attempts to switch in-board and falls terribly short and costs a goal.

I'm not blatenly having a go at him i admit how valueable he is to us. Almost irreplaceable but theres no denying he has obvious troubles when getting rid of the ball via foot.

He has had massive issues in the past but has worked very hard at his disposal and apart from that one instance, i don't think he missed another target.

Every player misses targets, and that was his only one of the day among the 30 odd he got.

Need to worry about Lloyd. He's torn Scarlett in the past.

I thought Scarlett had Lloyds measure

Biggest worry for Geelong will be to make Fletcher accountable. If he is able to roam free in defence his rebound will cost them dearly. If he and others are made accountable Geelong will have our measure comfortably.

Biggest worry for Essendon will be the clearances. Brogan and Lade dominated West and Blake yet Geelong where still killers in the clearance department. Hille and Laycock need to get the taps down to Watto's quick hands or we will get slaughtered.

and a turnover machine when he kicks it

Very harsh and not very accurate (Your statement, Not Watson's kicking!). Watson only made one mistake Vs North, and that was very early. He had leather poisoning, so there were PLENTY of other opportunities for him to make errors! He didn't! He's a very underrated player and very (very) important to us. He looks to have really improved his kicking this year but I never actually thought his foot skills were quite as bad as everyone made out. I'd be interetsed to see stats for his effectiveness from last year.

Watson was no doubt in our top 4 or 5 players last week but he could have had such a better game which is is really in a way pleasing if he can play even better.

Yes he made a bad mistake in the back pocket but there were a few other things he could have done a bit better that i noticed.

Twice i saw in the middle in conjustion he let go of the ball way way to easily both times instead of either hitting a target by hand or just simply holding the ball in and having a ball up. He coughed it up and the kangas ran it out twice and it ended up costing us a goal both times.

That's the difference on being best on easily and been our forth or fifth best on the ground.

Jeez, I wouldn't have minded having the problem of having a 30+ possesion getter wasting only ONE of his disposals last Monday. :p

Who to watch out for? Given our last few outings:

If you barrack for Geelong watch out for .............. the ENTIRE Essendon team!! Hard in the midfield, play-on at all costs and bloody Lloyd getting his eye in early.

If you barrack for for Essendon watch out for .............. the ENTIRE Geelong team!! Smashed us EVERYWHERE last year, as everybody knows. Only weakness was maybe the kid behind me didn't make enough effort to wave his Cat's flag!

Gonna be a bloody good match I reckon and I'm looking forward to taking the two Bomber kidlets to this one before racing to the 'G to see my lot.
