He does have a house of the Gold Coast, not too surprising.
His wife Jesinta Franklin is also from the Gold Coast and probably wants to move closer to family.

I don't think Buddy is the type of person who would retire then come back, he seems to be done with footy unfortunately.
I would agree with you. Perhaps a coaching/mentoring role is more likely? We've got several young key forwards like King and Walter who could really benefit from his knowledge of the game.

A young Ryley Sanders was a passionate Gold Coast Suns supporter and here he is with one of his childhood heroes Lemmo. We should definitely keep an eye on young Ryley should things not work out for him at North and he wants to live his childhood dream by pulling on the red and gold. We already know he plays well with future Suns Walter, Read and Rogers after the Allies' championship this year. Let's not let this one slip like we did with childhood Suns supporter Will Day. Sanders is going to be a star in the AFL for anyone that's wondering.

Buddy strikes me as a guy a bit like Tony Lockett
Can imagine him retiring and never hearing from him again
He doesn't do social media, won't be a commentator and why would he coach or mentor?
He's just going to leave us with the memories and that's a good thing

Lockett does some mentoring at Sydney every now and again.

Buddy is a footy head though, loves the game. Suns should be in his ear about a gig to help the young forwards, i feel like he'd be really good at it.

King talks for a few minutes on the Gold Coast - Lions game with a focus on Gold Coast game plan.

He makes a great point about the midfield. For the entire game we had Flanders/Humphrey/Anderson rolling up from half forward which meant we pretty much always had at least 3 of Touk, Rowell, Humphrey and Flanders in and around the ball which allowed Anderson to float outside as a receiver where he is absolutely dominant. The Lions just had no idea what was going on and Flanders and Anderson feasted in their preferred roles as a result.

Was brilliant coaching and something we never would’ve seen from Dew.

There’s lots of improvement left in Mally. That skilful snap at goal and bullet of a pass to Levi I think it was were exquisite.

His best is more than good enough, his worst is very poor indeed (especially contested ground balls).
Needs to work at getting his poor/weak stuff up to average/acceptable and he will be good.
A bit like Flanders and Andrew, if he can work himself into the side and become a clear best 22, should be easier to play well.
Tbh, there is a spot in every team for a quick small forward who can hold their own in a ground ball contest.

His field kicking can be good, but has also had some howlers. I like his speed.

If he can get into better positions—like that front and centre goal he got on the weekend—or find a bit more space to get out the back, he will contribute a goal or two each week.

If Ainsworth and Rosas can get 2-4 goals between them each week, we suddenly become very threatening.
