AFL Club
Essendon
I just wanted to take this opportunity, as an Essendon fan, to thank Collingwood and their fans. This Anzac Day was an awesome day, and it wouldn't be possible if both clubs hadn't made it what it was.

The result didn't go your way but you definetely played up to the occasion.

The AFL would be poorer without the Magpies, as rivalries like this wouldn't exist.

Awesome game.

Don't take the responses personally... this lost REALLY hurt us.

Thanks for the sentiment, it was an incredible game on an awesome stage.

A hard loss to take but you've got to hand it to the young kids at Essendon, they didn't drop their heads when down late in the last, their superstars off injured, hobbling or not getting a touch of the footy and they found a way to come back and win.

To me, the pies looked just off sharp all day, perhaps the interstate trip and hard slog up in Brisbane did take the edge of us, who knows. However, top sides find a way to win and having hung in there all day and getting a couple up with ten minutes to go it cuts to the quick to let this one slip through our fingers.

Suck it up Dons, it was a great win for you.

Indeed, a stage respected and grown by Collingwood and Essendon, but built by the Anzacs.

It's a pleasure to know that perhaps they are continually putting on a show worthy of these truly great men and women.

There is not enough said about this MM's outdated and ridiculous game plan of playing along the boundary. It was great in the days of West Coast who had players with great foot skills. Collingwood don't have those skills coming off the backline. Toovey can't kick, Goldsack certainly can't kick, Cox can but his intensity is non-existant, Brown and Presti simply don't get the ball enough. As soon as we turn it over, which is regular, the opposition immediately have players alone in the middle and hurt us going the other way.
It's time to get into the football of 2009 MM, and start playing through the middle of the ground. It's the shortest way home and will at least give the tall forwards a chance of taking a mark as defenders can't swarm back as quickly.
