Thank you to Michaels for the thread idea and OP.

Every night the news is on and sadly it's often more reports about small local business closing, and its gutwrenching. I imagine many/some on here are being affected.

But not many main stream media platforms see offering help to those that still are open.

So, if you own a small business, work in a small business or know someone who owns one that is still up and running but facing hard times, we want you to give the business a plug in this thread.

You just never know who may need your services.

Business name
Location
Contact info
A bit about them and what they do / offer
Website link.

As a community we need to do everything we can to help these small businesses stay open. And this is another platform to spread the word.

As a rule a thumb we don't do advertising on BF, but Chief is right behind this, so please plug away.

Great thread.
It's times in crisis like this that we need our patriotism and to stick together, support our communities and local business.
I am lucky I'm still in a job and I will be happily supporting business around my area.

Hopefully when this is over, everyone will be buying pizzas for the local joint rather than dominos etc etc etc. It really needs to be a focus in the future. One of the biggest pieces of crap that comes from globalisation is that it doesn't matter where your stuff comes from. I think the total lack of manufacturing in Australia has been evident in the past month or so. Everything from handwash chemicals to the actual dispensers comes from overseas. And when there is a local resource, it has limited distribution. An example is someone told me that there was a local firm that produced cleaning products for professionals, but its distribution was only trade based. I wonder where the new virus test kits have been made. There is ample evidence that countries are hoarding things that they make which are valuable in crisis times like these. I think a lot of us was wondering what would happen in the long term if china was crippled.

Of course all of these are big picture long term things. When that local pizza place reopens I'll be going there.

Problem people are told to stay at home so that can be pretty hard to do that and People who lost Jobs don't have much money to spend at Local Stores

Sadly that's the reality. As alluring as it sounds to have some time at home, it quickly loses it's appeal when you can't pay bills or your home is put at risk. I'm 1 of the lucky people who still get to go to work so I'll do my bit supporting the local food outlets.

It's been a while since I've been in the US but I remember that one of the things that struck me in some of the suburban shopping places was that lots of restaurants were branches or franchises of large chains. While inner cities had their family restaurants, I remember being in suburban Denver and hardly seeing a small business. Everything was either a branch of a large chain or a franchise. That was probably 20 years ago. Australia seems to be going that way and it would be nice to keep some independents out there...

Should have kept it. Anything with steel bumper bars is worth a bit now.

Pardon the intrusion — I'm not a Collingwood supporter and this is not technically a local business. But I started a little side hustle putting footy inspired designs on tees after my missus lost her job in March. If you're interested, the Pies ones can be found here.
