Sorry this is late, unfortunately can't post competitions when you've been suspended.

Select a team to win, margin and a prediction for a 'headline' about the game. That last bit sounds ambiguous but it just needs to be referring to an event that happens in the game, you don't have to spice it up like traditional news headlines as it can be any type of event AS LONG AS IT IS TO DO WITH WHAT HAPPENS ON THE FIELD. Your post needs to be submitted 5 minutes before each game starts, any posts later than that (Example 2:08 for a 2:10 game) will not be counted.
POINT AWARDING SYSTEM BELOW

Select the winning team - 3 points
Select the winning team AND correct margin - 25 points
Select the winning team BUT incorrect margin - 3 points

The awarding of points to the headlines will be done as follows. I'll be judging them myself and awarding on a basis of 2-4-8-16 points. Saying something like 'Hogan kicks at least one' is very likely so you'll be on the lower end of the scale at 2 points, saying something like 'Petracca kicks 5+' will be 16 points as that is a pretty outlandish one.

This will be running all year and I will be doing my best to have it up within 5 days of each game. I will go through each thread after the game and quote all posts that earned points, post a leaderboard then post a new thread for the game in the next week. I will also be entering this competition myself but won't be eligible to win.

UPDATED LEADERBOARD

Will post this after the match I have two threads to tally

Any questions feel free to put them in below!

schmuttts predictions:
Winner - Melbourne
Margin – 1 point
Headline: Hogan 4+ goals

I predict unadulterated boobery punctuated by the odd surprising moment of decent football. One team will win but nobody will be happy. Hopefully we lose because I think the vitriol and abuse directed towards Goodwin and under-performers will be far more entertaining than a win.

Edit: Technically, this is a double post too. Until one post is deleted, they're both double posts. Two posts enter, one post leaves...

This - his season is all about enjoying he carnage if we lose - whooo hooo

I liked it when you would get sympathy for being a dees fan - but respect for admitting it LOL

EDiT - wife out of town so watching live - get ready for some epic melts

I’ll be watching it tonight too but I’m dreading it. How nice would it be to have confidence your team was going to smack most opponents.
I think Goody is just rolling with a selection policy of picking guys who will play to instruction, regardless of how crazy the instruction is. It’s a safe bet there is disharmony inside the tent though given what happened with Viney and McCartney both being booted from the box. If Goodwin doesn’t start getting results there will be no believers left other than himself. Sometimes you have to be able to admit when something ain’t working Simon.

My sure thing: We lose, get slaughtered on the rebound and Goodwin finally admits we have an issue with our game plan.

Essendon have got plenty of genuinely quick players, we are playing on the fastest deck in the comp, are carrying a few old slow guys, and the only guy with any toe in our back line is Hunt. Our centreline as named are plodders... Lewis, Jones and Salem.

We have so many guys in our lineup who look slower than the average AFL player: Lewis, Vince, Salem, Brayshaw, Tyson, Jones. I’m not sure about Fritsch, it might be more to do with no tank, and Nev looks like he’s slowed down this year too.

It doesn’t bode well against the Bombers. I’m tipping a ten goal loss.

Dons have their line in the sand game against us then proceed to go to water for the rest of the season.

In saying that:
Dees by 87.

Your heart is cold because you have known a long AFL winter, hopefully it thaws out a bit after the Dees smash these pricks.

Bombers by 21 in a horrible low scoring affair.

Essendon - 9.11.65
Melbourne - 6.8.44

Dee-saster as Melbourne struggles to kick 60 points 3 weeks in a row.

Sportsbet paying $8 for under 150 combined points being scored is easy money.

going all 3 outsiders to win today
bombers by 22 kicking 7 goals in last 1/4 to 0
5 out the back goals/2 last minute goals to bombers

Hope I’m wrong but

Winner: Essendon
Margin: 35 points
Headline: Daniher finds form, tears apart Melbourne defense and kicks 6.2
