What is everyone's thoughts on this game?

I cannot see us getting too much opposition here. If Melbourne win, they lose their priority pick.

Sydney have also said that they are determined to get off to a great start against Melbourne after slow starts in recent weeks.

Sydney will also be keen to get back on track after their loss to Collingwood last week.

Sydney generally play well on the MCG, and their fast running style game certainly suits the big MCG ground.

Weather forecast is unfortunately Windy with Showers.
If it remains fine, Sydney could thrash Melbourne, a team with nothing to play for.

Thoughts?

It's in Melbourne's interests to lose and pick up a priority draft pick. So wouldn't it be typical Demons to shoot themselves in the foot and beat us?!

But seriously, I'd be surprised if Melbourne didn't make an effort to win. There would be players on the list who are playing for their futures, young players wanting to make an impression. And how would their fans feel if they turned up and their team didn't make an effort?

I was thinking, how would I feel if the roles were reversed and Sydney was in Melbourne's position? Maybe I'm guilty of a short-term outlook but if I was going to make the effort to go to the "G and watch the team play I'd expect them to win. A win's good for a team's confidence, and what if the priority draft pick turned out to be an injury-prone dud anyway?

That's my personal view but I can understand the other viewpoint. I think the idea of a priority pick for 5 wins or less is flawed anyway.

Completely agree, while the ladder position the Dees are in may allow them to try players they normally wouldn't or blood some youngsters.

This one we should win, and win well as we need to stay above the Bombers on % in case (hopefully) they roll the Pies.

Saw this in an articale and it should help...

Meanwhile, ruckman Stephen Doyle will be rushed back into the senior side for the Melbourne clash on Saturday after sustaining a knee injury in round one.

“It’s really positive for us as a team getting a player of his caliber back and his size and it’s something be need and it’s something we have missed a little but with (injured ruckman Jason) Ball.”

Also congrats to Kennelly - 5oth game (already). I see a bright future ahead!

It is amazing that in such a short time he has made it to 50 games. This kid could really be anything. Its hard to believe he is only 22.

We *should* win this considering what we have to play for and what the Demons are playing for (that draft pick). But if we think that the Dees will just lie down and give this game to us, I think we will be in trouble.

Best of luck to Tadgh Kinnelly in his 50th senior game. How we coluld have done with him for Kerry against Tyrone last Sundaywhen we got stuffed ! Looking forward to the Internationals in October when he will again meet up with our best to try and show you real football!

Thank Christ you guys won.

It would have been shattering to see us win. Just look at the Brisbane vs St. Kilda match in Rd 22, 1998. By winning that match, Brisbane missed out on Justin Longmuir.
