Just wondering if anybody is/has been involved in Horse syndicates at all, & the costs/benefits of doing so? Also the processes people went through. Seems as though it is weighted more toward risk, rather than reward.. Would love to hear feedback & opinions!

Syndicates are a cheap way to get your foot in the door, even if you lose money the entertainment and satisfaction is second to none, plus you get owners priviledges from time to time at the track.

If you were ever gonna fork out a lot of money and try to make some cash by owning a horse, you'd want to initially start out by being involved with a syndicate and learning what it's all about.

Thanks mate! Have you done this before yourself? How much do syndicate websites mark up the prices generally? It sounds good, but unless you know someone involved it could be hard to get a good deal..

yeah im involved in a syndicate owning 6 horses, and own about a tail hair of each of them.

They won't really start going around seriously till later this autumn

I own just the 1 atm, probably not racing until April/May, recently got gelded because he was too busy checking out the fillies ;) lol

It's pretty relaxed and isn't too expensive, can't wait to see him race, will be a thrill win or lose.

Thanks for the responses! Did you go through syndicate businesses or did you get a group together and purchase directly from a sale? How much money are we talking here (PM me if that is too personal)? I would probably only be able to afford a 'tail hair' as well from what I have seen online & as I am new to this I don't really know anyone else to break up a 10% share. Once again I appreciate the feedback as you all are obviously far more experienced than I haha..

The one where I own a "tail" in 6 horses was through a business. Hancox Racing. Shelley is fantastic and they are always updating us about the horses. It costs us $900 for a share with no on going costs.

The other one was done through a mate, whose dad owns Springhill Park Stud. I'm pretty sure Chase That Feeling was bred there. That includes money for training and stuff (around $280 when in work and $80 when spelling).

Hancox atm have some great value syndicates IMHO.

As you see there is plenty there for everyone's budget!

Yeah nice, that's the first site I have seen advertising a 2.5% share which would be a nice starting point!

Just purchased 1/20th share in a 2 yr old filly out of Dubai Destination to be trained by Greg Eurell. She seems promosing and and the blood lines are good for to be a decent miler once she matures, costing me $140 a month for all fees.

If you are joining a syndicate to make money then put your money in the bank:D but if you are joining one for the thrill of maybe getting to see your horse/dog win then it is well worth the outlay. :thumbsu:

The guys at insiderail have got a share should say a small share in a Mach force 2yo about to trial not named as yet.

Is there a central location where you can find syndications/horses available or do you have to look through each individual website?

Have had thoughts about doing this for a while, have the finance and mindset (i.e just want to see one go round rather than win me a million) but would be pretty selective with the breeding/trainer within my budget.

If anyone is in any syndications that they think are top notch would be great if you could PM me.

Does that monthly fee go down when spelling or is it constant? Who did you go through for your purchase? Goodluck :thumbsu:

That monthly fee is year around and does not change.. I can give you details if you like? pm me if you want to know, I believe there are some shares left in her and with Greg training her you know she will get the best of care.

hey guys, found this all interesting. Was interested in maybe getting into a greyhound racing syndicate and this will be my first time, will this be the best way in doing so? http://greytsyndicates.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=hornetsell&action=display&thread=4421

Thanks in advance to all your feedback. Would be interested in what people think is the easiest way to start also?

I can categorically say that the best in the business is Rob at Winning Glory Syndications. Gives updates all the time, lots of pictures and doesn't screw you around.

Thanks Rizzo looked at the site and looks great! all the syndicates are sold out now, do u know when the next available syndicate will roughly be? the x5 payment method is good giving you 2 months between payments. Prices seem reasonable. Has anyone gone into a syndicate with this company? How has the experience been?

Thanks again

I'm in a pup syndicate at WinningGlory and so far everything has been great (regular photo updates, payments going through smoothly). :thumbsu:

I've got 8 with rob, and have never had a problem. In fact, I'd go on to say he does more then what would be required to keep the owners up to date and happy. Nothing has ever been a problem for him! If anything has been seriously wrong with our dogs he has always called me to update, which is much better then logging on and seeing a post that the dog is badly injured.

If you want more info PM a user Bulldogrob. He is the owner of WinningGlory.

Like most things if you want to reduce your outlay try to cut out the middle man. Most organised and publicised syndicates have substantial markups from the auction price to the syndicated price with a large proportion of the difference going into the syndicators pocket. Always check to see the price the horse was sold for if it went through a major sale. This info is readily available.

Another way to get involved is to approach a trainer directly and see if the stables have anything available for syndication. Only costs you an email and the great majority of big and small trainers are happy to welcome new owners. Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words guys

At this stage i have been taking a little break since xmas but will be getting back into it soon. Join my forum www.winningglory.com and you will be able to see when i release them

Cheers
rob
