If i open a tab account by going down to the tab, how long will it take before i can use it.
Also when actavating my tab account online do i have to put in credit card details?

When you open your TAB account you'll need to bring photo ID and a bill of some sort, plus a min $20 intial deposit. You can start using it straight away online, over the phone etc. but you need to wait till TAB receives your ID from the outlet you open it at before they send out your card and let you take out cash.

Usually takes a couple of weeks to get your card posted out.

oh okay so if i go down after i fill the stuff in i'll be able to open it straight away. and i can come home and activate the online secetion without having to put in credit card details

The flexibility you get from other providers such as Sportsbet and Sportingbet just SH#T on TAB.

I find that TAB site a little more user friendly but you can't go past Maxdiv getting the bets of the three totes.

Corey at sporting bet had my account set-up online over the phone in a matter of minutes with $2000 credit, it was very easy.

Yeah you can just deposit cash over the counter in your pubtab or do bpay deposit online if you don't want to use your credit card.

Its not a gift of $2000. Its a line of credit which you need to settle each week.

I've got credit at nearly all the corporates. Its just a matter of asking them for it.

As for the OP - the TAB is good for one thing and that is quadrellas.

Anything else you're better off opening an account with anyone else bar them. And don't worry about using a credit card. Everyone offers POLI these days (except for good old Tabcorp of course.) which means your money is in the account instantaneously.

Both sportingbet & sportsbet offer quadrellas & the Qld treble. Sportsbet just on the main gallop meets but sportingbet across all codes/meets with the option of placing with any of the three Tabs.

The only thing missing is running doubles You can take a multi instead but generally they pay less than the RD.

If you go to a TAB agency, your account will work pretty much instantly. You just have a set amount of time that they have to receive copies of your verification documents. It is different now too, it is not the old 100pt system. It now consists of Tier 1 and Tier 2 documents. Basically, you need a photo id (Drivers License, Passport) which is Tier 1, and a Tier 2 document which consists of a utility bill, tax notice that has the same name and address as your Tier 1 document. If you don't do this through a TAB outlet, you will need a JP or equivalent to verify your documents.
