Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I'm trying to find a clear explanation of the payouts for super multis before going ahead with one and have really come up empty (on the net in general, not just BF). Hoping people here might be able to help.

My understanding of the 'systems' involved with Super Multis is that it allows you to still win if you have a leg(s) fail. And that your bet gets spread evenly across all combinations.

Using a 4 leg multi as an example can someone tell me how it works:

Leg 1 - $1.50
Leg 2 - $2.00
Leg 3 - $3.00
Leg 4 - $4.00

$100 outlay.

I opt for system 3, this equates to all 3 leg combos being bet on:

1,2,3 - $9
1,2,4 - $12
1,3,4 - $18
2,3,4 - $24

Does my $100 get split evenly across these ($25 each) and pay out accordingly if three legs get up?

1,2,3 - $9 x $25 = $225
1,2,4 - $12 x $25 = $300
1,3,4 - $18 x $25 = $450
2,3,4 - $24 x $25 = $600

If that is the case, what happens if all 4 legs get up? Do I simply get $1575 ($225 + $300 + $450 + $600) instead of $3600 ($1.5 x $2 x $3 x $4 x $100).

If I put on a system 3 and system 4 together with the same $100, does that give me the above 4 combos plus the 1,2,3,4 combo, all for $20 each? Then if 4 legs get up, I'd get $1980 (sum of the below):

1,2,3 - $9 x $20 = $180
1,2,4 - $12 x $20 = $240
1,3,4 - $18 x $20 = $360
2,3,4 - $24 x $20 = $480
1,2,3,4 - $36 x $20 = $720

Or am I way off?

Appreciate any help.

Yes that is right (without checking your workings).

They work well I think if you have legs greater than $2, you can maybe get away with one leg 1.50 < x < 2.00 like in the example above. They are of no use to punters that multi up a heap of favourites.

I really only use them if I like a couple of horses and an outsider in the footy or vice versa.
