Spewing, got ready to come along and our ********ing car decides to break down, footyman let me know how the Jets boys go if i dont get there in the end, thanks.
Bad luck mate, but in the end you didn't miss much. It was probably the biggest let down of the year, one of the most ordinary games of footy you would ever see.

The Western boys looked a bit underdone, I guess a lot of them haven't played for a while. Lyons had a good run on a wing, going into the centre late in the game, one or two nice kicks that hit teammates but others where at pace he scrubbed em. Took one good grab overhead in front of me.

Dickson was down back, spent the first half on Walker from the Allies whose been named in their best. Some booming kick ins, but not enough for me.

Jake Edwards was virtually unsighted as well, first half across half back, started the second half on the bench and was another Vic who didn't do enough to really stand out.

It was a real let down of a game, Cain was good, Barlow did a few eye catching things. For the Allies, Lonergan obviously with 5 goals, Gilbert down back pantsed Rees Thomas in the first half, but I think he is 19 yr old and played a lot of senior footy and Thomas is still 17. Roffey a little bit in the ruck was alright, Josh Walker up forward kicked 1 goal and probably missed three or four other chances.

Spent the first half sitting near Greg Miller which was great because he wouldn't shut up. He felt the 2005 Allies were much stronger than last year, loves Dempsey....Gilbert
True, had him near me at the finals a couple of weeks ago and was talking about his trip to QLD, two guesses why he went up there. Dempsey and Gilbert in the same game!

No, bloody terrible.

The last quarter was good. Like him more in the back line where he has to be accountable.

Footyman, I reckon you've got his ranking half right. ie. the 5, just put a 1 or 2 in front of it.

Glad I could be of help.

Where do I go to get those 3 hours of my life refunded?

The Allies 'team' were rubbish. Lots of people wanted to bag Dickson's Metro squad selection because of all the 'draftable' kids he didn't play well I think Dickson is probably rolling around on the floor laughing his guts up right about now.

The Allies were better but not heaps better. Can any of them actually kick the ball adequaltely? Looked like under-15s at times. Anyone actually see a pass hit someone on the nipple?

Victoria 3-0-18 3-3-21 4-6-30 7-7-49
Allies 3-3-21 4-6-30 9-11-65 13-15-93

SCORERS: Victoria: Jacob McGuane, Andrew Ainger 2.0, Clint Bartram, Jarrod Plymin, Tristan Sutherland 1.0, Sam Wormald 0.3, Brendan Iezzi, Sam Rowe 0.1, RUSHED 0.2 Allies: Sam Longeran 5.0, Lee Spurr 2.1, Daniel Dzufer 2.0, Josh Walker 1.3, Jesse White 1.1, Matthew Wade, James Bennett 1.0, Hayden Kiel 0.2, Courtney Dempsey, Nate Roffey, Todd Grima, Adam Mueller 0.1, RUSHED 0.4

Crowd: About 250 at Optus Oval

It was a tight contest for the first quarter and a half before the Allies team got on top and if it wasn't for poor kicking they would have won by more. Sam Longergan,Lee Spurr and Jsh Walker were the best for the Allies team. Jacob McGuane, Ben Iezzi and Clint Bartram best for the Vics.

The Allies have now won two in a row. It is a great concept certain to continue on the Thursday of AFL Grand Final week in years to come.

Had a good look at the game today. It is a bit hard for anyone to judge the Vics as they did not team at all.The number of times they turned it over with poor finishing skills allowed the Allies to rebound. No one supported,no one shepparded. There were alot of individuals. The Allies at least ran to assist. It is too hard to break down a game when they have only trained for one session let alone know each other.
Player that impressed me was Sam Gilbert he clearly was the player to watch for the future.

Interesting match at Optus today, never been to an Allies V Vic match before. Allies were impressive with their fast pace and good use of the footy. Sam Lonergan was named best on ground for the day kicking 5 goals. The Vics had a few stars including Josh Eddy (Falcons) who took a screamer and Andrew Ainger (Chargers) who was performing well up forward but seemed to be carrying an injury as the game progressed. Brad Collins (Bushrangers) and Brant Dickson (Jets) had solid performances up back. Despite having a collision with Jake Edwards, Sam Wormald (Falcons) had a good day also. Vics lacked communication and speed, as for the Jet boys Nathan Lyons ran hard and used the footy well when he had possession. Jake Edwards performed well at the packs but unfortunatly didn't have his best day.Despite the Vic team losing to the Allies, when the game got dull i was scanning the oval and noticed how good looking the female trainers from the Vic team were - easy on the eye Does anyone know which TAC Cup Club they work for?
There are better going round in the TAC cup maybe we should start it as a thread?

I was at the game yesterday. It was a big disappointment. The players who impressed me from a drafting viewpoint were Lucy, Banjanin, Dzufer, Spurr, Dempsey, Laidlaw, Ainger and perhaps Bennett. Jack was tagged for half the game which was a bit rough. Lonergan was BOG but is very small. Walker was an interesting player and could make Lions rookie list.

I think it's a bit hard to judge, the boys from Vic only met the day before the game, therfore, ran out on to the ground hardly knowing each others names, let alone their style of play and the Allies had only a couple of training sessions.

In my view no one was tagged. Why would anyone want to "tag" a player in those games. It was of no benefit to the outcome. Jack at times looked ok but thats when no one was manning up on him. His was just too small in the middle. Lonergan controlled the clearences for Allies because he roved to Banjanin better than the Vics.

Interesting to see that out of the best for Vic that 4 are Oakley players ,1 from Sandringham,1 from Geelong. I must have seen a different game because most of the metro guys were the ones not manning up or supporting. It would be interesting as to who nominated the best players.
In all due respect to Barlow, he turned the ball over more times than any other player with hand or foot. His decisions making was too slow.

Agree - for example I'm certain Simon Buckley was "manning up" on Dempsey in the first half. Dempsey ran riot yet Buckley is named best player?
