Just finished a Dees V Cats game on pro with 10 min quarters.
The tackle count was 161 to 154. Way out of balance.

The problem is the amount of tackles that "stick"
I'm suggesting a player attribute be assigned (on a percentage basis) that determines how often a tackle will stick to that player.

E.G : Ablett 39% tackle stick
Judd 38%
Bate 77%

This would mean that when ever a tackle is applied to a player it would have a chance of being broken relative to the players % attribute.

Get rid of the "Shrug" function in favour of a handball target option and allow for the slightly un-predictable tackle slipping at stoppages that AFL actually has in real life.

This would surely free the game up a little more whilst still maintaining a contested footy feel.

At the moment the tackling is just way too overpowered and it's more like a rugby game than anything else.

I think it's a good first effort by Big Ant but the tackling is a real game-breaker for mine.

I do really wonder why this wasn't picked up in the testing stage.

At first I thought this to be the case but when you become decent with the controls it is never really an issue, you can always handball or get a quick kick out.

The tackling is too heavy for my liking, against the lowest level AI I find myself handballing to space 90% of the game because shrugging tackles rarely works and the pressure is too high to get a well placed shot off to a team mate.

I think most would agree that the more you play it, the more times you find open pace.
Also wouldn't be complaining about the tackling until you've adjusted the team tactics a little. Win the ruck with an attacking midfield and you have space to run off, draw a man and the chain continues. It certainly does improve.

That aside, the tackle count is excessively high. :)

I think the percentage thing is a good idea but insteadt of the percenatges of the taqckles that stick, it should be the percentage of the tackles u shrug.

Well I won the match by 97 points so I'm guessing I'm getting around the controls Ok?

Firing off handballs or kicks to no-where most of the time to get on of your guys to run onto it isn't exactly great fun to play or great looking either.

Too many tackles sticking combined with the acceleration button that does nothing and you have stoppage city.

And to the poster directly after my OP if you think there is nothing wrong with the tackle/stoppage system I think you have your head in the sand a bit.

Going on the 40 min game as stated in the OP there would be more than 300 tackles per team in a full length match. Yeah your right nothing wrong with it
