Depends what you mean by tagger. You get guys who stand next to an opponent at stoppages then just play normal after like Keays, Dunkley, Mills, and Nash for example.
Then you get the hard taggers who can do jobs like Maginness, Drew and Clarke, there really havent been many of this type in the last year or so. They might make a bit of a comeback now with Maginness monstering Daicos, but I dont think most teams will look too closely at it
More often if a coach wants a job they just get their 22nd best player who is a half forward or half back and get them to follow somebody all day. Eddie Fords job on Sicily the other week is an examaple of this, curtis taylor today on Merrett too

There are out and out taggers like Maginnes and Ryan Clarke and defensive mids like Drew, even Dunkley, Conor Nash, Hewett, James Jordan , James Harmes, Rowbottom, Hugh Greenwood. Bilcavs and Tom Atkins play defensive mid roles for Geelong. Even Jack Steele was a good defenisve mid a couple of years ago.

Every team should have a player capable of playing a good defensive mid role. Can't understand why some don't.
