Highly-rated Richmond recruit Richard Tambling will resume playing this weekend after missing the opening fortnight of the AFL season.

The No.4 pick in last year's draft impressed in round one of the Wizard Cup, but has struggled in the last month with toe, back and hamstring problems.

"He'd had a problem with the toe for a couple of weeks, I hadn't been asked the question whether there was anything else wrong with him, so I didn't answer it," coach Terry Wallace said.

"He's had a few other little niggling problems as well, he's been having a few problems with a back and needed to have a couple of injections last week.

"We'll expect he'll train fully this week and play on the weekend, we think we've overcome the problems he's been suffering with, probably for two or three weeks now."

Wallace said it was difficult to say this early in the week whether Tambling would be ready for his AFL debut on Sunday against the Western Bulldogs or resume in the reserves.

Awesome! But after a rough trot like that, should we rush him into the side or blood him some more in the reserves?

maybe he can do a Mcrath and star on debut against the dogs, but i just hope he can last longer. ;)

I think he's shown in the Wizard Cup game and the practise matches that he's ready for AFL, he is a player I feel is not a Gimour type who needs to spend a season or two in the 2's, If he is ready for AFL then play him.

Dont play him unless he is 100%.

If he is totally fit in the first stright away. Easly in our best 22 so should be there.

100% fit = baptism of fire.

Great news.

Very important player.

bring him into the side! i cant wait to see him debut! should be a good one!

btw for the madtiger post above, first time tnight i didnt laugh at his stupidity! congrats mate! ;)

I would say that if Tambling is 100% fit, then lets play him!

He is a vital part of this team with his speed and skills and he and Lids would grow much more if it was together!

IN: Tambling, Raines.

OUT: Chaffey, Tivendale.

What you're saying is.....

IN: 1 game experience

OUT: 300(approx) games experience

IT WILL NOT HAPPEN

If Wallace thinks he is ready to play, he will play.

Lets hope he is ready as we will need him against the bulldogs.

IMO, he's good enough to play, so if he gets through training tomorrow and is absolutely 100% fit, then play him.

Ahh Bentleigh.. You honestly believe that your team is further advanced than ours, when the reality is that we are both on the same, pitiful level.
Just because you beat us last weekend doesn't make you any better than we are.
I am in no way suggesting that we are better than you, but both teams suck. In saying that, we both have great young lists and a very promising future!

You compare Deledio, Tambling, Meyer, Raines, Gilmour, Shultz, Hartigan, Archibald, Hyde, Jackson, Krakouer, Limbach, McGuane, Moore, Newman, Pattison, Polo, Roach, Rodan, Coughlan

with

Roughead, Franklin, Boyle, Miller, Thurgood, Lewis, Williams, Bateman, Brennan, Brown, Dawson, Hodge, Ladson, Kane, Little, Murphy, Nixon, Osborne, Sewell, Mitchell

And it all makes for two very similar lists. I wouldn't go saying that you guys are so much better off than us or vice versa, the truth is we are both in the same predicment, you're boys just have one more win than ours!
(well.. have one win anyway!)

Wallace - "wins is not the aim at the moment"

I honestly reckon blooding kids is the way to go at this stage. More so when you conister mature players do desevre to lose there place; Tivendale, Chaffey etc.

Its not as if are going into the the game with 22 17 year olds. Richo, Bowden, Johnson, Brown, Campbell, Tuck, Hyde, Newman, Coughlan, Kellaway, Graham, Pettifer, Stafford and Knobel will be there.

I dont see the harm in chucking in a couple more kids.

Long term goals. In a couple years IN 3 years you'd prefer Roach to have 40 games under his belt than 10.

I reckon Richmond has a stronger list at the current. People are talking about us getting over 5 1/2 wins whilst the questions are being raised will Hawthorn go 0-22.

I belive we are at very similar stages of our rebuilding. Both team have some top class youths but both would like 1 more influx of kids. In terms of hood young, long term rebulding we'd be about even.

Ive watched both Hawthorn games and though Everitt, Crawford & Barker were near your best 3 each game. At 31 year old for each this has got to be a big worry. I relise Richo has just turned 30 but playing out of the goal square he should have several years left.

But so was Franklin, Hodge and Mitchell...
