Just after his input on Friday night I found his moves to
be very Mitchellesque, especially the burst of speed that left Burns
with his face in the turf.

Saw MM take off from the backline at the SCG one Sunday and run the length of the ground to kick a goal from just outside the forward pocket.

If RT can pull that siht off then we better sign him for ten years.

And to think he will only get better - LMAO.

I thought some of his more languid moves were like that of Nicky Winmar. Either way, it works out well for us.

As an aside, how bad must the expectation be on Jarryd Roughead? You've gotta feel sorry for the kid! He had no say in when he would be picked and now his progress will be forever marked against that of Tambling!

Spare a thought for the kids pre Tambling u rekkon CJH ?

I'd put Brett in that category too now although he will no doubt be touted as our great white hope.

Not so much the kids pre-Tambling... just Roughead. Tambling was a monty to be taken at 2 but Hawthorn tried to play funny buggers and bumped Roughy up the list.

Just as Hodge has always been pegged to Judd (another Hawthorn SNAFU at the recruiting table), Tambling will always be the 'what-if' player in Hawthorn's mind.

Griffen was always going to be taken at 3, so the Bulldogs got who they were after. Deledio was always going to be #1 so no problems for him either.

The hype and excitement of Tambling may also help Deledio as the glare of the spotlight and expectation is shared amongst the 2 (and to a lesser degree with Meyer and Pattison who were also first round).

Maybe Tambling is better than Roughead but at least Hawthorn has solved its Key Position problems whilst also getting a top midfielder in lewis. Richmond still have problems in the back half and perhaps should have drafted either Franklin or Roughead to fix those problems. Tambling is gonna be a class player but just reckon richmond are pretty strong in most areas except key position in the back half.

At the moment I beleive he is injuryed, month or two out.

The whispers are next years crop of KPP are pretty special, far more so than the current.

Bingo.

You'd think Tambling went @ 1.

Mate, Roughead and Franklin are not going to make it for sure.

Lewis is far from a 'top midfeilder'. I would have liked him @ 32 or 20 but 7 was just far too high imo.

Hawks should have got Tambling or Griffin at 2.
2 - Tambling
5 - Franklin / Roughead
7 - Messen

Great call Oxxy.

I remember being introduced to MM at The Castle Hotel back in the 90's by Sleazy Leaysy :D -top bloke too.

I remember that Mitchell goal at the SCG and IIRC that was goal of the year, and in the same year he also won mark of the year I think.. Standing on someones shoulders, similar to Sampi's last year.

To be fair to Michael Mitchell, I would sincerley be hoping Tambo eclipses Mitchell's status and rep as a AFL footballer.. Flashed with brilliance, but in no way consistent.

On a side topic, does anyone else think the AFL is entering a golden age of skillfull Aboriginal players? There is an absolute wealth of young talented Aboriginal players getting around ATM. More than any time I can remember.

i would have taken lewis at 12 if he was still available.Would have been the perfect senerio with our 1st 3 picks.2 paccy onballers and a tough nut.The Hawk IMO went for the wrong player.the hawks need an injection of pace in the midfield not another slow hard at it.

cheers!

.

mindful of putting too much pressure on the d however I reckon he could be better than MM...Mitch had a habit of running thatdamn quick that he sprayed his kicks some....Tambling tends to balance and deliver with precision...That said Tambling has entered the fray at the right age...whereas MM was 26....good luck to the young fella he's a delight to watch already

speaking of which , it would appear that tag has been well and truly handed over to byron pickett

That piece of gutless filth needs to be rubbed out for at least 12 weeks to send a clear message that gross acts of cowardice will not be tolerated in this great game

Tambling may well be Hawthorn's 'what if' player but the same could be said for Richmond's first 3 picks and indeed most of their picks. By opting to go for moremidfielders, as is Wallet's trademark, Richmond passed over the 2 best Key Position Players that they so sorely needed. I think hawthorn had no option but to go for KPP's, we desperately needed them and let's face it, that's what good teams are built around.

Lets face it, good teams are built around KP's & Midfeilders.

LMAO .... still trying to talk yourselves into that one , hey :)

Keep telling yourself that. Funny thing is, I have heard the opposite. The cream of this years draft is said to be midfielders.

Really?

And who would they be pray tell.

You see, I was under the impression Marcus Drum, Mitchell Clark & Beau Dowler were the standout players.
