Tank Time?

Peverill possessions are not damaging. Has bad foot skills. Apart from the goal his 32 touches did not hurt the opposition.

I agree with your thoughts but you couldnt drop him ATM. I will say that a serious look at his place on the list needs to be done . We simply cant afford to keep blokes with poor foot skills for too much longer. Pevs poor choices coming out of defence have cost 6 goals in the last two weeks. We cant keep hanging onto blokes who hurt "us" on the score board.

And just on a side note, Peverill was the highest ranked player on the ground for either team on the Champion Data rankings...

If you are happy that he has given up 6 goals in turnovers in the last two weeks then go ahead and be happy. While you are enjoying your feelings of bliss just remember that unless we clear out the players responsable for making the most skill errors and giving up goals then we will allways be just a run of the mill side. Pev has been one of our better midifleders for how long now , maybe 5 years. Well judging by our finishing positions on the ladder in that time i think we need to find some new blokes to be our better midfielders.;)

but if we can't find a better midfielder in the trade period what do we do ant???

guys like hislop, houli, jetta and reimers still won't be fully ready next year. i know what you mean, but what other option do we have???

I agree. But until then, Pev is doing more than enough to earn his spot in the side.

It wouldn't be considered tanking if we decided to rotate the youngsters. For instance play Dyson and MOnfries one week and the next play Johns and Kepler. That the youngsters would get some time at the top level!!

Peveril deserves a spot in the team well ahead of MJ.
MJ's been good lately. They both deserve a spot in the team ATM. I still can't understand why Lonergan didn't get a game when he Pev was out and when he was in form getting 25+ disposals. If our finals chances arn't looking so great then why don't we give other less experienced midfielders a go and see how they go, im suprised sheeds hasn't given Hislop a run in the midfield yet and im starting to wonder why he hasn't been given a chance in the midfield yet, id love to see him get a run before the end of the season.

Peveril isn't eggective. Whats the point of getting the ball if your going to give it back again.

He barely turned it over as often as some of his team mates. Fletcher cost us a goal from memory, shall we call for his head also seeing as he was well beaten yesterday?

Pev has done enough to play another season at Essendon and Ill be dirty if he's dropped.

We can finish as low as 13th. Scary considering we were contending for top 4 a few weeks ago.

Yeah was thinking that last night, like damn, we could finish bottom 4 again.

But looking at the draw, while previously I was thinking 10th-11th, I'm now thinking 11th-12th.

Who says guys like Hislop and Houli wont be ready. There are a number of second year midfielders who are standing up this year after not playing much footy last year.
I doubt Pev will actually go but he still has to be seriously looked at. It is simple. We fast track a few of these bloke next year if we can or we remian with an ordinary midfield for a few more years !

given that you guys will be tanking for a PP and at the point we could still be pushing for a finals selection i think we could see a 99 point drilling like it was in 2005 wasnt it....
who knows if we bring our best to the table will be a smashing
if we played like we did today and last week you guys will probably beat us like any team in the league

Carlton have no incentive to win and seem to have no will to win. They are playing as poor football as they ever have in their history.

Pagan will get the sack during the week before our game. They will beat us by 17 points with Matthew Lappin kicking six and Fevola kicking five. Their ambition to lose is not as strong as our ability to make them look like stars.

Agreed, our midfield is deplorable. If we're going to move forward we need to weed out the blokes who are slow and losing their skill.

At least get guys who can run a little and chase, and who can run a little faster than a snail when the opposition has the ball 3 metres away.

Peversely, maybe I'd enjoy losing to Carlton in Round 20. It doesn't change our season, we might as well play all of our youngsters, and we get to stuff Carlton up with their priority pick.

Losing to Carlton in four weeks' time would be our great ever victory against them :D !!!

Yeah, if they are infact tanking then let them keep their loser mentality i say, an 18 year old ruckman won't help them straight away
Yeah he would. He has to be better than Hackland, Choke and o'Helphim.

he would be straight into their side, atleast. He might do a Paddy Ryder type roll for a bit, or maybe go into the forward line, but he will play.

Yeah, he might play, doubt he'd improve them a great deal off the bat, back to my original point, let them keep their mentality if they are infact tanking

Actually they where playing very well until Cloke went down . He was playing pretty good footy.

He was ant but i'm not convinced yet if that was improved form by Cloke or the fact that they were "up and about" very early, or a combo of both.

This brings me to another point.

We were also very busy in the pre season and "up and about" early also.

Sheeds stated in a press conference, about 6 weeks ago i think, that we will get better as the year goes on

How was this ever going to happen?

Was it just media Spin or did he believe it?

Our younger players were always going to get tired.
Our older players were always going to be carrying injuries.
We were always going to get some injuries
We had a very tough run home.

We don't need to tank, we need to make some tough decisions.

Why ask the question Merv , you know it was media spin. The coach is hardly going to come out and say we are finished for the year (unless he is Wallet). Even if he did belive we wouldnt make it he is hardly going to say so.
