Tarkyn is soft and goes missing when the heat is on. He has never won a contest, he is a total outsider who needs lots of space to hit a target, he is short, soft and not over fast.
We have had a few players like that, and Tarkyn is better then all of them, I have seen him win contests, he will be good.

Lockyer is SOFT.Just cast your mind back to his pathetic displays in the 2003 finals series.Yep thats 4 finals failures outta 4.When the going gets tough Lockyer goes missing. That is the only consistent aspect in his footy career to date.
He is nothing but a handy fringe player & if another club is stupid enough to field a decent offer for him it should be jumped at.

perhaps you forget the amount of times tarks has ran back with the flight of the ball in traffic or the time when he was knocked into next week by molloy when he had eyes only for the ball.

to suggest he is soft speaks volumes for the softness of your brain.

go have another beer and think about your next stupid comment.

Criticism of Tarks comes down to the perennial two hander of great clubman, great person but mediocre player.

In 88 quarters in a year would he be capable of putting in even 44 where he was 'dominant'.

At this point in time no. Can't take a quarter by the scruff of the neck and cruel the opposition.

Would he make it into the top 20 mids , top 20 backs or top 20 forwards in the competition?
No.
Lucky to scrape into the top 30.

Great guy, average player. Perhaps 2 quarter wonder.
Could a squad of average players win us a flag?
No.
And we've seen the heights such a squad reaches this season, where the previous two years the back six were a tight, cohesive unit made up of six average players this year they were a dysfunctional rabble with one quality player in their midst.

.

I disagree 1990 shows that a few stars (which we have now) and some very good average players are enought to win a flag if all goes your way. Look at the 1990 side closely and you will see several players who were less AFL players than Tarks. All players play a role in a team, hence that's what makes a team.

yes Tarkyn did get knocked into next week by Molloy, but who expects to get knocked by your own player. Just that Jarrod is slow and clumsy and has cost the club dearly because we gave up Mal and Hadley for him. Check the 2002 final against Port, Tarkyn twice fluffs marks in the centre square because he hears footsteps. He is totally reliant on others getting the ball out to him and even then he stuffs sometimes and goes for dinky little kicks. It is quite depressing to know that we don't consider getting rid of such ordinary players and that so many supporters continue to get sucked in by this short, slowish soft player. Who bloody cares if he bleeds for Collingwood. So do all us supporters but they don't pick us because we are S***.
