Gonna miss his goal kicking :(
Hopefully we win it for him this year. That's why he came back to where he belongs.

This worries me for next year too as we are still in our flag window and dont have great depth coming through.....Keefe is good but still think we need to recruit a ready made defender and worried this could be Johnnos last year too....sad day for the club

This is the time for someone to step up, get the players together let them know what they're playing for, inspire them, remember why he returned to his beloved pies. Go pies get Tazza that premiership medallion.

His time is up. He's actually been pretty average this year, albeit injury interupted. That's the main point. At his age injuries will only get more frequent and worse. Not sure how much injury has been a factor but his pace looks to be going as well. If he couldkick straight for goal he might be a handy low possession 3rd tall forward but he's always missed too many goals. He's had a good career but it's time to call stumps. Be nice to see him go out with a flag.

Meanwhile, we have Paine up forward and Keeffe down back to develop further.

Hopefully this inspires some of his less commmitted mates, (hi Swanny) to pull their fingers out and put absolutely everything into getting Taz the flag he deserves.
Interesting comparrison. If Taz had this committment for his whole career he would have played it all at Collingwood and he may well already have a flag. He was sent packing because he did as he pleased off field and wasn't quite as effective on field for the coach to keep tolerating it.

There is a school of thought that believes players who announce their retirement before the finish of their season play like they have retired thereafter. Leigh Brown did it last year, so lets hope it does not happen to Tarrant this year. I would have been happier if he had left the announcement till after our final's campaign.

I'm fearful of this too. Leroy did last year and to be honest I felt like he played like a man that knew he was finished.

Shattered that Taz won't go around again one more time. Hopefully we can turn things around and get our season back on track and finish off on a high for both player and club.

Leigh Brown was one of our better players in the losing GF, but it is fair to say that his form in between the announcement and the GF was poor.

he returned to us as the player i always thought he should have been - the defender. at a younger age he was very athletic with wonderful strong hands overhead. yes ideal for a forward but his yips never escaped him. during these days his ideal spot should have been on the wing/halfback. the ideal go to man for the kickout from fullback, followed by the 80 metre play into the forward 50. it took harvey, a student of sheedy, to be prepared to go outside the square and try him elsewhere.

lets see what the next 6 weeks bring.

has anyone heard from shelz ?

What was it about taz that no matter what he did, I forgave him. Whenever a mate would say taz is crap, a little piece of me would break. There were moments in the gf last year where i couldnt help but think "I love you taz" just because of how hard he fought.

You'll Never Walk Alone Chris Tarrant.

Sad to see the great man go. He's given us some killer memories!

I'd like to see the club keep him around as an assistant coach in defence or something. God knows some of our boys could learn a thing or two from him about playing one-on-one.

My favorite photo was when he grabbed the jumper after his goal against Adelaide last year.

If anyone has it, please post it. Summed up Taz to a tee.
Yeah, printed the photo out and stuck it next to my desk. Unfortunately I have the photo on my other computer which is OOC :(
