Tarrant's Problem

Youd better ask MM. He has shown a reluctance to rush youngsters in the past. Last year there was nobody fit to take Tarrants his spot. This year MM was desperate to win as many games as possible, top 4 was a possibility. He'd get more out of an injured tarrant than the likes of a fit Rusling, Cloke etc and they weren't exactly on uninterrupted preperations either.

Look I'm by no means a Tarrant fan. I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep if he does get traded. He's a lousy shot at goal, has had off field dramas and he's overpaid (thats Collingwood's fault not his). However, he's essentially an exceptional HFF who's been forced to play as a key forward because Collingwood has been unable to recruit/draft anybody over the last 5 years to hold down CHF. I just think he actually deserves a bit of credit for playing out of position with injury. Injury free as a regular third tall Tarrant would no doubt show form closer to his AA year than he has in his last two.

I don’t reckon he has. He played Fraser in 21 of 22 games in the ruck no less in his first year. He debuted most of the Nov. ’99 raft crop early in 2000. Lonie debuted and got kick out duties very early on. Thomas played early and Pendlebury played year 1. I don’t think MM has been reluctant at all I think we have drafted a lot of players not good enough so they haven’t found their way into the side.

i think collingwood is doing the right thing in looking around for a trade, however, i think it would only ever be under very favourable conditions for the pies...given his performance this year i can not see clubs over-valuing him which is what they are hoping for.

That said i am the first to stick up for taz, who works as hard as anyone on the ground. Yes, i could have killed him a number of times this year for missing goals. lets not forget in his earlier years he was a long and accurate kick for goal. Id say in his last couple of seasons his kicking has let him down, however, shin splints and knee problems are going to directly affect ur kicking. Im sure a number of punters on here could agree kicking a footy with an injured leg is extremly hard ur flinching be4 you kick it, worried about the pain it is going to cause. If you watch him kick often it seems without his full conviction, i cant help but think mayb its cause the poor guy is injured.

his spot if a hff, collingwoods lack of forward line targets ruins his best assets, his tank and ranging leads which create space. get the pies a fit and firing CHF and FF and the pies will be in business...perhaps a ruckman so fraser can rest in the forward line also.

The Verdict: give him this preseason to get fit and in 07 and we will be wondering why we wanted to trade him.
