I think its a shame that so many "bogans" have horrible, generic tattoos done. If you arent from a tribe, why get a tribal tattoo? I am totally against getting tattoos "just because they look cool". I even had a go at my mum for getting a fake dragon tattoo and thinking she was cool.

Having said that, I think there are some instances where getting a tattoo is fine. Everyone has reasons for getting a tattoo, and as long as youre comfortable with your decision, then all power to you.

Just dont tell me you got it because it looks cool

Incidently, I'm looking at getting a tat. If anyone is well versed in latin translations and is willing to give me a hand, PM me, I'd like to run something past you.

The tattoo I want isn't just a Latin phrase though. Not a generic "carpe diem" or whatever people get. It is a symbol "St Marks Lion", (if you're at all interested) which contains a Latin phrase. It's this phrase I would like altered.

So, can you help or are you just here to mouth off?

Google translates into Latin, fwiw. Just type what you want in there, and it will translate it to Latin.

Yeah I tried that, but then to double check I translated the Latin back to English and it came up weird

I've even been told the original saying in the symbol is in incorrect Latin, so I'm really confused now

Well seeing as everyone seems to want to know the personal reason behind getting my tattoo, here it is.

My grandfather passed away recently. He was born in Venice, and was the vice president of the Veneto Social Club in Melbourne for many years. The symbol of Venice and also the Veneto Social Club is St. Mark's Lion.

The text in the book reads "pax tibi marce, evangelista meus", which translates to "peace be to you mark, my evangelist". I was wondering how to change the phrase to read "peace be to you david, my grandfather".

Since the original image has the saying in Latin, I think it's fitting to keep it in Latin, but just adjust the phrase to give it a more personal meaning.

Of course I could just get it in Italian, or English if that suits you better.

And for the record i didnt come here "just bagging people for getting tribal tattoos". I just don't understand why people get it if they arent part of a tribe, or don't understand the meaning of particular tribal tattoo design.
