Terrible lot.

Did anyone see that story on the news (or was it a current affair show) about the drunk chick who was taken to a secluded spot and molested by a taxi driver after she passed out. Not an unusual occurence I beleive, just not well publicised. Happened to a couple of female friends of mine.

Now I've never been molested (as sexy as I am an all) but I've had a taxi driver steal my watch when I fell asleep smashed and another charmer drive around and around until I came to. Last one cost me $40 for what is normally a $10 trip from town to home, too out of it to argue, too out of it to get his number.

Tip: always write down or memorise the buggers number when you get in. Just in case.

Never trust a taxi driver.

Anyone else got a story about this sub species?

Sorry DB. I feel sorry for Taxi Drivers, they have to put up with drunks. throwing up in their cars, abusing them & trying to get out of paying, I wouldn't be a Taxi Driver for quids, thankless, dangerous job.

OH & I am not sucking up to Fred, cause I am ****ed off with him at the moment. :D

Oh yeah they cop some crap, but there's plenty that dish it out.

What is the befouling charge these days? I managed to pull that stunt before it went up to $50 in Adelaide.

My last Ex. had to pay $50, that was 2 years ago, maybe it is dearer now.

Maybe I always get good cabbies, they always let me finish my drink in the car, some even let me smoke. :D

It's worse driving in my car near a taxi, those bastards don't know the rules and **** u off.

Was behind one in town a few weeks back turning right at an intersection....anyway we had the red light. IT turned green, but instead of going he decided to pick up some ppl....i beeped him, ended up missing the green light and waiting for the next green...stupid pricks.

Most taxi drivers are pretty cool... good to talk to on the way home when you're maggot. A few times I've been a bit short of money and told them and they've driven me the rest of the distance free.

There are a few ********s around though. One night one taxi driver blamed me and a couple of mates for ripping off the seat covers and wanted extra money to pay for it.

I drove Taxi's at night when I got into a bit financial strife during the recession we had to have. I m a strongly built 6ft2 anglo saxon male and let me tell you at times it could be one of the scariest jobs imaginable. I really feel for the Senegalese, South East Asian or middle eastern born new Australian who has to also put up with rascist **** as well.
I hate reading bad stories about taxi drivers, its by no means the norm. The vaste majority are extremely hard working and honest, often earning below minimum wage up to 18 hours/day.Everyone expects you to know every single street in Melbourne and the fastest route there. Please cut these guys a little slack next time you get in their car and remember your sitting in their work place. Treat them and their taxi with the respect you'd expect people to treat you in your office.

Like most things in life, there is always going to be a minority who spoil the party for others. Ive had some good and some bad ones. Im usually happy if they can speak english, its a bonus if they know where they are going also!

One morning my car was in getting serviced so had to take a taxi to work. I rang about an hour before I was meant to start for what should have been a twenty minute trip. He turned up half an hour later and had no idea where to go. I had to take out the Melways and direct him. I ended up at work half an hour late which, being on an hourly rate, meant I lost wages as well.

I've only ever had one experience involving a sleazy driver, which was going from Alberton to where I was staying after the Rd 22 Showdown. He was continually calling me 'gorgeous, beautiful, sweetheart' etc which I HATE, then he then started questioning me about whether I had a boyfriend, if he treated me well and actually said to me that I should get a real man who could give me 'what I needed'.
This was my first time to Adelaide so I was freaking out a bit, seeing as he could drive anywhere I wouldn't know the difference.
Thankfully I got back to my relo's place in one piece, though he left saying, "be sure to ask for me next time, beautiful. I'll be happy to take you home any day"

Are you the second good looking Port Adelaide supporter that I had heard a rumour about?;)

Taxi drviers are the same as any proffesion - good and bad.

I don't usually knock cab drivers, but one I had yesterday was a shocker !!

He got lost in the Parramatta CBD and then turned into a one way street and went haring down it in the wrong direction mumbling almost unintelligibly about 'short cuts'.

When I go to Melbourne for work I always book premium service cabs - worth the extra $$
