I was going to put this in the General discussion forum because I dont think this passes as a crime as such. People in Perth will know what this is about, It has been doing the rounds on the news for the past few days. Apparently the bloke started filming the cop after the cop was swearing at him for swearing.......I know I know the whole situation is just stupid.

Both are in the wrong. I am not a fan of the police in and around my area, I have seen some pretty bad shit with the boys in blue but I do understand that they are people to and will occasionally skitz out from time to time.

Being a police officer is a absolute prick of a job to do well. In any given shift you might have to fill in as a lawyer/negotiator/paramedic/admin worker/child carer/stunt driver/security guard/martial artist/marksman and if any of those skills aren't up to scratch you find yourself in the glue on the six o clock news. For less money than most decent white collar jobs pull in.

Absent a race of ubermensch public spirited civil servants who don't care how much they are paid, there are always going to be minor ****ups on the job, all the more so when they are dealing with a large number of dead shits who make up the vast majority of police officers social contacts. And have camera phones.

In this situation, the only thing the police officer really shouldn't have said is he was going to deny the guy bail if he arrested him, he was basically admitting he would breach the bail act because he didn't like him. Someone needs to tell him to pull his head in.

Other than that, the guy was being a disrespectful shit, to go crying to the internet because he didn't like the reaction he got, what a complete soft ****.

I've never understood the mentality which tries to argue which police when they book you. If you think they've got it wrong you can always take it further afterwards, but when they are dealing with you, recognize they are often fairly average people trying to do an unbelievably difficult job for the public good. Know your rights, but show them respect, and more often than not they'll treat you civilly in return.

So in summary, minor mistake from the police officer which shouldn't result in disciplinary action, and society would be a vastly better place if Mr. Facebook rode his bike under a semi trailer tomorrow.

Because short of assualting them, we should be able to challenge them whenever we feel the need to without any threats of retribution like gaolhouse rape or being attacked with a less-lethal weapon called a taser -

It may be impolite, but people certainly CAN get away with taunting cops, cop taunting is not a criminal offence in any Australian jurisdiction.

Simply put, police officers are people who society pays to enforce the laws to the best of their ability. They deserve respect, and imo people who don't give them respect are degenerate scum who shouldn't be allowed to breed. Mouthing off at a police officer is the social equivalent of taking a dump on the sidewalk, you are abusing a resource which is there for the public good.

If you think they've got it wrong, it's very simple, say your piece politely, and if they don't see your side of the story, shut up and exercise your right to have your day in court to argue about it.
