rotating in armstrong, martin (when fit), mckernan (he and davis could go halves) and maybe even Jetta (fingers crossed)

That team actually looks pretty good. But, I think you need to find room for Davis, perhaps Burton doesn't make that side or one ruckman. Maybe Reilly doesn't get a game? It gonna be a tough gig to break into this side.... I'm getting excited. Then we need to find room for McKernan!

But, you didn't need to start a new thread, could have put in the existing thread.

Further on the Davis thing, you'll need a 3rd key defender so if it isn't Otten then Davis will have to play.

Yes my side is missing a elusive goal kicking forward. I was hoping that would be Jacky :( Hope we can recruit one or two and hope Jacky turns out to be a half forward/wing type player.

Thanks I will take that into consideration next time. It is my first post and i have been on B.F for a while now

ok, so it appears that im unable to start new threads... this is the closest one.

Working with the assumption that players like Davis, McKernan, Petrenko, Martin, Sloane, Armstrong etc will be knocking down the door to get a game in 2010, is there a method we could employ (when appropriate) to expose these kids to top-flight footy...

What if... We rested a senior player and brought in a kid with a similar skillset against teams we should thump. Melbourne, Richmond etc. Would do the kids a load of good to see some game time, and may boost confidence if we wail on a few lesser teams.

Just a thought, not my opinion... any ideas how it can be done to continue getting these kids a game when we have 28 players deserving their spot?

or perhaps have a double rotation

one week Edwards, Goodwin, Walker, Armstrong play
the next we rest those 4 and play Sloane, Cook, Burton, McLeod

im more expecting it to be 3 seniors a week, giving each 3 weeks on, 1 week off.

But who knows.

exactly... think we would all agree that something needs to happen... perhaps base it more on the weeks coming opposition... personally i would like to see walker replace hentschel or burton maybe for two or three weeks at a time... give burton a rest... havent seen either play much, but davis and smack should be stars given they get a chance to develop... i expect them to play 10 or so games each, unless either dominate and keep the other out... i dunno

Thought had crossed my mind.

Why not? It's a long season. They do it in other games, and we love pinching ideas from other sports.

On another note, any word on 'subs' (two extra bench players to cover injury) for next season. Someone in the media was pretty sure it would be introduced. Would be handy for us with the over 30's, a few of them get the odd strain most seasons.

could the idea not be abused??? get mcleod to go hell for leather for a half, then claim he has a strained hammy and bring on fresh legs?

It's a nice thought but I don't like messing with a (presumably) winning side. If they earn their spot then thats fine if not then they wait another year. But with injuries and suspensions that happen during a year there will be around 30ish players who pull on the Crows jumper through out the season.

Plus there is always the NAB cup which always seem to be a good testing ground for younger players.
