Seeing that the NAB cup is a great oppurunity to give the younger players a go. I though it would be a good idea for us to put down our own squad of players we would like to see come NAB cup time. New guys are in Bold.

6 interchange players during NAB cup.

Neitz is certainty during season, no need to have him play. Same with Robbo and White. Give them a warm-up game just before the season, but NAB cup is for the kids.

Would not bother playing anyone over the age of 28 in the first two rounds of the NAB Cup (if we get that far),great opportunity to blood youngsters & give them an early opportunity to cement a place in the team for the first few rounds of the season!

I disagree. With a new coach and presumably a new game plan, we need to use the NAB cup as a prelim to round 1. Sure, play some of the kids off the extended bench, but we need every opportunity available to allow the senior players to grasp the new game plan prior to round 1.

At this stage, our best 22 is far from cut and dry. All senior players should be given the opportunity in the NAB cup to press for round 1 selection, including Yze, Miller and Holland.

Additions to my squad: Sylvia and Miller

A good mix of youth and experience is essential, throughout the NBA pre-season. Especially with a new coach

Bruce to swap with Davey through out the game same with Morton and Sylvia and Grimes and Green.

i tried to go pretty young with this team but still included a few older players.

I also included quite a few KPP but most of them are pretty versatile and athletic(Meesen Ruck/CHF)(Martin Ruck CHF/CHB)(MillerCHF/CHB/FB?) and then Newton FF, Carroll FB and Rivers CHB and i guess you could include Frawley because he will be our next FB.

Neitz Robbo ect.. to play in later rounds of NAB cup or if we get knocked out in the NAB challenge?(the teams that get knocked out of the NAB cup play each other but it's not on tv and they play on the lesser known grounds)

The only players I don't want to see during the pre-season (first and second matches) are Neitz, Robertson, McDonald, White, Bruce and Green.

Heard Neitz will most likely sit out the first couple of rounds in the NAB cup. Newts should fill full forward. I wouldn't be surprise if Carrol spends more time at Sandy.

Based on the last training report, I'd doubt that any of the following players who are in the rehab group, will play in the NAB cup:

McLean, Bartram, Whelan, Wheatley, Sylvia, Rivers

All high quality players, cept maybe Wheatley...Argh, stupid injuries

i thnk McLean just had a bit of soreness/stiffness so he is probebly back into full training.

I think Rivers is pretty much ready to start full training same with Sylvia.

Not sure about the others there have been some nasty rumours about Bartram but there not true i think he is just recovering from was it ankle sergury? but they should all be fully fit by NAB cup (but that doesn't mean they will play) :thumbsu:

What a surprise to see him on the injury list

I'd want to see the minimum game time required to get the following players in form and used to the game plan, regardless of how many matches they play - Neitz, Robbo, White, McLean, Green, Rivers, Whelan, Bruce, and Davey. So you might play some of them in the 1st and not the 2nd and then put them in the 3rd but play them sparingly and then put them in the 4th and give them a good run.

Besides that I would like to see Frawley, Martin, Miller and Newton as a spine, with the likes of Sylvia, Dunn and Buckley getting an opportunity through the middle and Jamar, PJ and Meesen really battling it out to get the second ruck spot. As much as seeing the new draftees playing well excites me, watching the more middle tier players battle it out for a shot at round 1 excites me more. Especially this year because with Ward, Godfrey, Ferguson, Pickett, Bizzell and Brown gone there will be opportunities for those who play well in the NAB cup.
