OK Guys this is my team
B- Haddrill , Jones , Hayden
HB - Grover , Polak , Woods
C - Carr , Cook , Headland
HF - Cunningham , Pavlich , Browne
F - Farmer , Sandilands , Medhurst
R- Simmonds , Hasleby , Bell
Int- Haines ,Walker , T.Longmuir , McManus

Emer - Thornton , Toia , Schammer.

-------------------------------------------------------
Injury List /not considered
Croad ( Susp ) , Waterhouse ( More Time ) , J.Longmuir( OK For rnd 2) , Parker ( Ok for Rnd 2 ), McPharlane ( Should Be Ok for rnd 2-3 ), Seigert ( Knee ) , Koops ( Shoulder) , Doswell , Edcumbe , Crowley

In a nutshell , Dockers Defence will be stretched without Paker and McPharlane , Freo will have to go in with a taller Defence to combat Adelaides 3 Bigs. Pavlich I have the hunch will have no option but to go and play CHF. The loss of Croad & Longmuir hurts us

Thats a worst case senario.
There is a good chance that Waterhouse will play along with Parker and McPharlin.
J Longmuir is also being considered to make a early return.

I would also be inclined to put Schammer in the side.

B- Haddrill ,McPharlin, Parker
HB - Grover , Polak , Woods
C - Carr , Cook , Headland
HF - Waterhouse , Pavlich , Browne
F - Farmer , J Longmuir , Medhurst
R- Simmonds , Hasleby , Bell
Int- Jones ,Walker , Schammer, McManus

Emer - Thornton , Toia , T longmuir

There is no way Cunningham is in our best 22. He has no poise whatsoever, decision making is very poor and turns it over basically every time he gets it. I was a fan of his because he had a long raking left kick but he will have to improve a lot to stay on our list.

I'll post my side in a sec.

Sabre, Justin won't play. I'll include McPharlin though. And why isn't Hayden in your side? FH- Connolly said Parker will most probably play.

B: Parker Jones Hayden
HB: Grover Polak Woods
C: Headland Cook Carr
HF: Haines Pavlich T. Longmuir
F: Farmer McPharlin Medhurst

R: Simmonds Hasleby Bell

I: Sandilands, Haddrill, McManus, Waterhouse

E: Schammer, Browne, Walker

If McPharlin plays, I want him to play at FF. Also will put less strain on his hamstrings. If McPharlin doesn't play, then Clive at FF, and Schammer to replace him on the bench. Browne unlucky not to get a game.

It'll be a tough call as too if 2 underdone players will come into the team. I'd say Connolly may risk 1 , but 2 or 3 is very risky

Round one matchups:
(I'll assume McPharlin, Parker and Waterhouse will play but Longmuir won't)

FB: Haddrill...Parker...Hayden
FF: Perrie......Carey.....Bode

HB: Grover.....Polak.......Woods
HF: Burton...Stevens....Edwards

C: Headland...Hasleby......Cook
C: Stenglein...Riccuito....Ladhams

HF: T. Longmuir...Pavlich......Waterhouse
HB: John****....McGregor.......Smart

FF: Medhurst...McPharlin...Farmer
FB: Hart............Basset......Torney

R: Simmonds....Carr..........Bell
R: Biglands....Goodwin...McLeod

I: Jones, McManus, Haines, Walker
I: Clarke, Doughty, Bickley, Reilly

I posted a similar line-up here (on page 2) only to make a few revised changes and exclude Welsh who I believe won't be fit for round one.

I agree with Kenny that McPharlin should be played at FF. He is extremely quick off the mark (was a champion 200m and 400m sprinter) and will present a real problem with his pace and athleticism for Basset. Pavlich will need to be at CHF for us to win.

Big ask on Parker and Polak. Hopefully they can hold their own so we can keep Pavlich and McPharlin in the forward line and not have to drag them back to defense.

Our midfield has more class and experience than last years with a skills focused pre-season, the addition of Headland, the improvement of Hase and Pav floating around the middle at times.
Although it does not quite draw level with Adelaide's it does come close. Stenglein will most likely get the job on Bell, Headland or Hasleby, probably Headland or Haze. I can't think of anyone who could run with McLeod. Carr would have the fitness to keep up with him but not the pace. I think he would be better suited to run with Goodwin, who also had a great pre-season.

What do you think?

I think Sandilands deserves a spot after his ruck effort and allows us to free up Simmonds which will be useful because we are missing some KPP's.

I agree with sticking Carr on Goodwin, but Goodwin is pretty quick also. I think we should give a challenge to a young bloke to try and match it with McLeod. Don't know who though. I don't think Walker should be in our 22, but if he is, give the job to him. He has speed and it will show us what he is made of, and whether or not he has improved.

Yeah I guess Sandilands should play to support Simmonds in the ruck. The only thing is, who would we replace him with?? Perhaps Waterhouse should be given more time then?

We've tried Walker on McLeod many times before and it didn't work. That's a big call you're making there... Would you really feel confident with the thought of Walker trying to restrict McLeod's influence on the game? Black would have been handy here :( :( ...

Perhaps the young bloke you're referring to could be Woods. He has improved immensely over the pre-season and has bulked up by 6kg as well. Or maybe the best thing to do would be to oppose Bell or Hase with McLeod and back Bell to have more of an influence on the game than McLeod (lets not forget what Bell did on round 22, 2001). He usually plays well against the Crows.

From your 22, I didn't have Walker in my side so that is who I think shouldn't be in there. But the chances are Walker will get picked so I think he should try keep up with McLeod. I know McLeod has flogged him in the past but it will show us where Walker is at and whether or not he has improved or not. It will be a good challenge for him and test him.

I hope that makes some sense.

But yeah, Bell wouldn't be a bad idea but he's a bit slow as well. What about Headland? Let McLeod be accountable.

Yeah, I was tired and I forgot about Headland. Headland should be matched up on McLeod and we should back (or should I say hope) Headland to have a greater influence on the game than McLeod.

Edwards will not start on teh bench in a million years

Unlikely that Burns will make the team in round one now

Burns to miss out from Saturday nights team and one of either Bickley Doughty or Mattner.

Freo are honoured to be the first team to get belted by this years Premiers;)

Don't get me wrong, I rate Edwards very highly; I just couldn't find the right match-up for him. If Burns isn't playing then Bode will most likely be named in the forward pocket and Edwards on the half forward flank.

Here we go.. I knew it woulddnt be long before we heard from our Crow Boys. Whats the price on the Cows for that game $1.10 ???
I think Freo at $ 5.50 would be far more attractive for a few bucks for those who dont mind having a quiet flutter ;)

I'd pick Afro Man over Sean McManus in a second ;)

I would have tought that macca had silenced the knockers last year.

Still hasnt won me. Cant knock him for his courage of his abilities to run out into space..............But his Goddamn disposal :vomit:

If we want to play finals and be in the hunt for premierships, we will have to set new standards for our team. I admire Macca for his courage and effort but when we are gunning for a premiership, he won't be there. I'd rather see our young midfielders like Haines be given a go.

Yeah I agree. There is no way Macca or Cunningham will make the starting 18 of our side when we are a true premiership contender (realistically in a couple of years).

By the way Kenny, shouldn't you be asleep now? You've gotta be at uni by 8:00am tommorrow :p ;)
