Yay Nicoski back.

Lynch still at FF disturbs me.

I have a feeling Lynch will quickly be pushed to the half back line if he doesn't produce anything at FF.

I said Nicoski would get a call up this week. We need his pace vs the Cats. Surprised we didn't bring in a tall for McDougall though. Who is going to ruck when Cox has a break?

Grayham would be a good tall option and 2nd Ruckman....but now it looks like Nicoski will get the spot ahead of him.

Looks like Gardi and Embley in the ruck again...

Nicoski will play. They wouldn't have named him otherwise. If someone drops out I expect it to be Selwood. They might give his ankle another week just to be safe.

Plan B: If the forward structure isn't working, stick Gardiner and Matera in the goal square and have everyone else around the 50m line. No leads, just kick the ball him to him. Just might give Scarlett and Geelong a headache.

McDougall is listed as being out with a shoulder injury, will he be available to play for the Demons or is he resting in the grandstand.

I just want to know, because if he plays for the Demons at FF, he could be in danger of starving and catching a cold.

Now lets see who's playing FB for the Duckies ...... warm jumper, deck chair, gloves ......

Does this crappy weather bother you lot at all? Geelong would be far more accustomed to the cold and wet than any of your (or our) boys. Might just give them a small advantage possibly??

(not trolling - before anyone bites my head off....)

Apparently he was going to play but his dad rang up and said he shouldn't because it's too wet and cold and he doesn't want him to get a chill.

Was actually interested to hear this today, as a majority of our games at Skilled last year were in the wet, where we performed quite well.

Makes the game just that little bit more interesting.

I imagine he'll play in the ruck.

What's with yer obsession with McDougall?

Im surprised that both Nicoski Chick and Brett Jones are all lined up on the bench. There all defensive back pockets for us, you would think that one or two of them would be playing in the midfield. Id say that Chick and Nicoski are most likely going to line up in the midfield. Im surprised to see Nicoski was picked ahead of Josh Wooden. Wooden has had good WAFL and Wiz Cup form, Nicoski must be doing some real good stuff to be picked ahead of Wooden in my opinion. I got a feeling this is gonna be another low scoring game with all the midfielders sticking close to each other.

Great to see Selwood in the team. I just hope he is left there when a few of our injured players come back. If Selwood can hit some form maybe it will leave Embley to play more of a forward role or even maybe play on the HFF. If it is rainy conditions, maybe Lynch will be dropped. Maybe bring in another midfielder like Wooden or Adkins and play Staker at FF. Hes quite agile and could prolly handle the wet conditions better then Lynch. The thing that worries me is that Lynch marking the ball in perfect conditions is a eternal struggle, imagine what he will be like with a wet and slippery ball

Nicoski is more than a back pocket player and he has more going for him than Wooden. He is taller, quicker and can kick longer.

Unlike you and many other Eagles supporters who post on here , I don't have an obsession with him I just think he's a DUD!

Whilst he is taller and can kick longer (albeit on one side)and is clearly more than a back pocket player there is no way known that he's quicker.

We know you think that. You don't need to troll about it over and over.

The bom report for today and saturday is

At 8am the radar showed a band of rain over most of the metro area.
Expect cool conditions today with rain periods, easing slightly to showers in
the afternoon. There is also the risk of a thunderstorm. Early showers will
linger into Saturday morning but then will clear. Fine and warmer conditions are expected for Sunday and Monday.

MEDIUM RANGE FORECAST FOR PERTH FOR:
Saturday : Morning shower or two. Min: 12 Max: 22
Sunday : Fine. Min: 13 Max: 26
Monday : Fine. Min: 13 Max: 29

If just for once they're correct, the game probably won't be played in the wet as its on saturday night- the big query I have is whether the ground will still be damp or heavy underfoot by Saturday night (see Carlton's blatant pitch doctoring against us a year ago when after a week of heavy storms, they kept the sprinklers on at optus for the entire day before). At this stage its raining frequently but not especially heavily, and it is very windy which does tend to dry the ground out. Given Subi tends to have fantastic drainage, if the showers do clear by saturday morning it should come up okay.

I guess just the fact that it is cold will help Geelong. If I could pick conditions for a eagle game, I'd want it 30-35'c, fine, and dry with no breeze to speak of. Logically, 13-15'c, fine and pretty windy is more suited to Geelong, but as long as the surface is okay, I think we'll do the job.
