if mcphee gets cleared then lee is out
if he doesn't get cleared and kouta plays then unfortunly bolts comes in for lee cause sheedy loves playing bolton on him.

Is Johns looking like being available?

If so I'd put him at FF and Lovett at HFF. Lonergan performed admirably but I couldn't select him, Jolley and Ryder all together again so soon

What the bloody hell has Reynolds done to be dropped? I think he is coming along nicely.

totally agree. i thought his presence up forward was great. kicked 2 goals and nearly took that great mark. has earned his spot and deserves to keep it.

Well against Freo he had 2 possesions.
Yesterday started well with 2 goals and then hardly touched it after

He had 13 possessions and 4 tackles in a forward line that didn't see a tonne of action in the second half, as well providing tough marking contests when the opportunity arose. 2 goals for a team that kicked 11 in the wet is a fair return.

merv he kicked 17% of our scoreline, id take that any day from a young forward, the way he moves around is very jame hirdish,

Just dont rate Reynolds, do you honestly think theres a spot for him once we get our entire list back next year? If Rioli wasnt injured...would be another nail in the coffin for Reynolds.

He's only in while we have almost half our list carrying an injury. Was he ever a chance when Lloyd, Rioli.....Cupes, Richards, etc were in at any given time in the past?

Well Rioli is injured and will be lucky to play another game, so Joel is safe there.

how many players in the afl are capable of filling llyods shoes? go easy, he works harder than rioli and why you mentioning cupido he is a fat washed up afl player that was delisted for a reason.. and richards? watched him last night... good to see him go.. stuggles as a player

Same could be said for Nash, Dyson, Monfries, Winderlich, Johns and the like.

Jobe Watson may not have even played Round 1 if Hird wasn't injured. We might not have seen this type of improvement from him. Sometimes it's just about taking your opportunity when it is given to you, at the moment Joel is doing that.

Take away the Carlton game when he played at full-back and the West Coast game where he played mostly on the wing and got little game time after playing VFL the day before, he has averaged three shots on goal per match.

He's place on the list isn't safe, he needs to continue to perform. But he is doing enough at the moment to at least earn his spot in the current 22.

I'd written him off, but if he finishes the year in the manner he played yesterday and continues to have 2-3 shots at goal each match then he most definately has a spot on the list. At worst he'd be a very handy depth player, at the best he provides another handy mid-sized forward option that can compliment the types of Lloyd and Monfries.

We actually don't have a forward that plays similar to Joel at the moment. Joel probably plays a little bit like Cupido, in that he has pace and is explosive on the lead, but is also good when the ball comes to ground.

He really should have spent more time forward yesterday, because he looked dangerous, he wasn't outmarked and he gave us a spark. Like I said, he's isn't safe for 2007 but I reckon he's safe next week.

Well, it doesnt alter the fact that Reynolds doesnt really excite me as one to look forward to in the future of the club.

For the role he played...sure, he kicked 2 goals early on, but pretty much unsighted for the remainder of the game. He can be easily shut down, easy outcontested and despite having SOME ability...only there to make up the numbers right now. I think there are enough kids out there now that can surpass him with more game time.
In the midfield, he'd be chewed to bits and up forward, he'd no doubt pick up one of the bext 2 defenders from the opposition, so his supply would dry up.
Whitnall wont let much get past him at the very least, as as Lee was overlooked for team structure yesterday, I cant see Reynolds being much use other than as a foil. As a focal point, I wont be holding my breath for him to repeat anything flash this coming round.

Blind freddy could tell you that Ive written him off as an AFL player

Have no doubt hes safe for next week, but I find it hard to think he's going to touch the leather 15 times n lay 5 tackles a game every week. 2-3 shots on goal? They would have to be almost certainly goals or no use having someone chip in for a couple of behinds. I honestly think being wet helped him or if the game was any quicker on say, a dry track...Lee wouldve been used more often and Reynolds would've been sitting on the pine.

crave, he has a future in the 22 for the remainder of the year and i feel he can turn the corner and really push for a starting spot in the 22 next year, as longy said its about taking the opportunities and i think reynolds is doing that NOW, + i think reynolds-lloyd would work better than johns-lloyd, as they are both pack mark players

Im almost certain he wont be a certainty for a starting spot in our best 22 next year. Emergency...perhaps and I really do hope he proves me wrong.
However, I find he doesnt lift when the game needs it, has no spark when the tempo of the game increases.
To argue your point about Lloyd-Reynolds, Lloyd/Monfries or Lloyd/Lovett is much more productive than Reynolds in the equation. If he isnt kicking goals (6 goals in 8 games isnt exactly something to be excited about, let alone 21 marks in that same period), where else would be of use...certainly isnt what is commonly known as an 'impact' player and the midfield isnt exactly lacking enough to require his services.
Think if we do gain an attacking midfielder who kicks goals from the draft (for arguments sake), he'll be no doubt pushed down the pecking order as usual till he proves he has something to offer consistently.
I really do he proves me wrong as I would every player on our list, but I just dont see his status lifting significantly any time soon.

I find the comment strange. Surely the tempo of the game was at its greatest at the start of the game and in the last few minutes on Saturday. At the start of the game he kicked two goals, at the end he was on the bench for a period of time but was responsible for bringing the ball to ground in the dieing seconds, we just didn't have enough numbers at the contest.

As for the 6 goals in 8 games, he spent one of those games at full-back, one of those he played less than a half on the wing after playing VFL the day before and last week he spent more time back than forward. His kicking accuracy has improved somewhat and that is the only thing stopping him from averaging two goals a game while he's been up forward. We need to play him forward to see if he can change that, if he starts kicking straight he's in the side next year.

We've got nothing to lose in playing him because he has proven he can be productive in front of goal. By playing him for the rest of the year, we may just develop another forward that would most definately compliment Lloyd, Lucas, Johns and Lovett.

If not, at least we know we've taken no risk in delisting him.

If he wasnt going AWOL for long periods of the game, he'd have no reason to be benched at any stage, let alone those tense final 15 mins when noone could post a score. Theres just nothing flashy nor tough about his demeanor and approach to the footy.

He was benched at the start of the second quarter after kicking two goals in the first. He didn't have time to go missing before he was benched.

Nothing flashy, did you see his first goal?

No, he isn't tough. Not everyone has to be, but he does put his body on the line and he does throw himself around. He has courage.
