I'd say that Reynolds being the older player is getting more opportunities to prove himself. Lee, Jolley will most likely be there next season... Reynolds may not, so I understand from that perspective they're trying to give him a decent chance to prove himself. By the way he did kick 5 goals on the weekend....

Dyson out because he has been ineffectual other then the Carlton match. Needs a run in the 2s as well. Hopefully will go back and do what Winders and Reynolds did when they got dropped.

Pev and Bolton must be on their last chance! Might be a chance for a late change there as well...

i know reynolds kicked 5
but jolley, lee have shown MORE consistently

and peverill and bolton are shocking
how can you explain them not being dropped after 138 points drubbing?

Not sure why no Jolley. I'm guessing he could some in as a late emergency. Ditto Lee.

No Watson will hurt. Not only Essendon but has thrown my dream team into choas!!

How Reynolds gets in before Dyson is beyond me. The guy dead set cannot play at AFL level.

Its moot anyway in my opinion as I very much doubt Camporeale will get a run in the seniors after such a long lay off.

hopefully dyson, jolley in

for campo, pev?

I'd be spewing if I were Jolley. Sheedy has been building him all week, announces today that hes been promoted and then out of no where he puts Dempsey in. While Dempsey may have a bright future ahead, hes not quite up to AFL standard yet and his form in the VFL hasn't been good enough to warrant a spot in the seniors.

Ok you might say Dempsey's pace is a factor against Geelong's 'slow' midfield but he's only going to get the ball a handful of times at best.

I think that this season isn't just about picking the best players, its about determining who will be at Essendon next season at the same time as developing these players.

Dyson has most likely shown himself to be a footballer to continue with. I'm sure that he isn't a chance to be delisted!

On the other hand, this is Reynolds 5th season. I'd say he would be on the edge of being delisted. However, if he plays all season at Bendigo, then we never really know if he could make it at AFL level... I think it is fair enough that he gets more opportunities then guys younger then him, he is playing for his spot on the list.

Plus Dyson hasn't really started this season superbly. I'm sure he will be back in the side soon too. I think that with selection it shouldn't be viewed from week to week, but rather over the full 22 rounds. As long as Dyson [EDIT] gets another 7 or 8 matches over the next 12 matches I don't really think its going to hurt him long term. In fact a full game with 30 odd possessions at Bendigo might just be of benefit to him.

No explanation for Pev or Bolton retaining their spot though.... But there is no doubt that these guys are playing for their spot on the list! I guess it is fair enough to give them more opportunities then younger players who are more likely to be part of Essendon next season.

I don't have a problem with Bolton or Peverill.

There have been a lot worse players than Bolton this year and he gets an unfair wrap at times.
Peverill is in purely for match up purposes as he can tag any of a number of the Cats midfielders.

I take your point about Reynolds but for gawds sake *shakes head*

Why Dyson out , well he has hardly set the world on fire in the 6 games he has played.
Why Pev in , probably shouldnt be but is obviously been given a second chance.
Why Jolley not in , i am surprised he isnt.Should be in in front of Dempsey IMO.
Why Lee not in , probably because he has only played 6 VFL games in total in his career and although he has been in the better players the last two weeks he still has a way to go.
Why Reynolds in , because out of all the aformentioned players he is the one with his head closest to the chopping block. Played well in the seconds again last week so he has been given a chance in front of others who are probably not in line to be booted from the list at EOS.

how can you say a guy is not up to afl standard if he is only played 2 games. the only way you can tell if they are upto afl standard is play them. and its not like he has been in poor form in the vfl.

if i had to choose between playing a second round draft choice or a rookie, i think i would go with the second rounder.

I said he's not up to AFL standard yet. Just because he's a second round pick doesn't mean he can't be overwhelmed by the big stage.

im glad to see that sheeds has put M.J in the midfield where hes played his best footy this year instead of the backline and im hoping that reynolds can prove us all wrong on Friday night

thanks for that

but bolton, peverill cant prove themselves anymore
IMO, they should give way ALREADY

fine, give reynolds a go, otherwise he gets delisted for sure
fine, dyson does deserve a rest

how can you not reward jolley?
and lee in for bradley seems logical even if hes not "fully" ready - dempseay wasn't and we cant lost by 138 again...

The lack of talls for Geelong may have influenced Lee not getting a game. I agree with Jolley , he should be in.
As for Pev and Bolts i would rather not see them in but in Pevs case i think he has been given a go for an extra week on the back of his Bendigo game.
