Team vs Individual Performances

Tonight we had the cattle, we had the opportunities but lacked the cohesion of the pies.

Whether it be coaching, ego, complacency or a bit of all three. Something is certainly missing at the club and other than farmer out, I believe its not a player or type of player that we lack. It’s the fact too often our players play for themselves, for glory or are simply too single minded.

Tonight was a classic example of a quite a number of excellent individual efforts, a bunch of passengers and too many undisciplined narrow minded moves.

There was alot more sheperding off the ball tonight and a lot more run in packs. I think they play for each other.

No-one has mentioned Freo's defense tonight, how poor were we... especially in the first half, uncontested marks in their forward fifty garlore. They had so few less fowards entries and yet we still let them get close by half time.

Those goals from Swan where he just waltzed into our forward fifty unmarked really hurt...

Agreed. Besides our first half against Port I thought tonight was the closest we've come this year to playing like we did in the second half of last season. Hopefully another streak is just around the corner.
