Think we're in with a chance if we can win the midfield battle... GO HAWKS!!!

Jordan and Youngy just need to go back and get a bit of touch i would say. Birch and Kane deserved another go. And i guess they thought the same about miller.

I personally thought Vandenberg's last two games were worse than Lewis's.

*runs for cover again*

Lewis has been shocking the whole year, however. Needs a good 2-3 weeks in the 2's if you ask me..(But hes not Franklin so im guessing he'll be straight back into the side  )

Dropping Young was probably expected...

Their spots were never cemented, unlike my man Sewell... :thumbsu:

Spot on about Lewis. Needs that time to get back into the swing of things, as his overall game has been terrible. Let him get 40 touches for a few weeks and hopefully it will transform into good Hawthorn form.

Youngy was stiff, but i can see the Box Hill game giving him more confidence.

With youngy out, provides a good opportunity for ben kane to show what he can do on a wing. Thought he showed good signs last week of pace, skills and poise, and the coaching staff seemed to rate him highly last year before his injury. With Bateman out of sorts would be good to see him step up and provide the run and drive through the middle we are currently lacking. Also is maybe a longer kick than youngy, heard he has unleashed some 60m+ bombs in his time at boxill. One to watch.

Kaner is one to watch. His 60m passes onto the chests of teammates last week was fantastic to watch.

He has pace to burn and great skills, and i hope AC will play him for more than 100 Mins per game...this kid can play :thumbsu:

We always seem to be having to drop players back to regain form. Why can't they regain form in the League team? Are our "star" draft picks turning out to be lemons? I'd like to see some consistency from them, they've played enough league footy now to start performing.
Lemons, AH. Yes, what you are saying is food for thought. Bitter-sweet!!!

If Hawthorn if to win tonight we cant afford to give melbourne the space to work in like we did brisbane or their outside runner in johnstone, bruce green and yze will cut us up. Its all good to push numbers back to help out the defence but if this means a total lack of pressure on the ball carriers in the midfield we are in trouble. If johsntone is allowed time and no pressure to deliver inside 50 then it wont matter how many numbers we have back there. Lets hope our midfield is more accountable tonight and doesnt give melbourne any space to work in. If we keep it tight hodge and mitchell should bulldoze the melbourne midfield in close we'll have a good chance of a win.
