F*** Me, where do i start....

97 / 98 was the pinnacle....
ATB... Clubbers Guide to Trance
Binary Finary
Tiesto... especially around the late 90's

The Trancemaster Series (up to 48 now I think) is prob where I've got the best music from.

Its a Pandora's box, where do ya start / where do ya end.

I don't really 'get' this music, but I have a question. Are your favourites for dancing to, or listening to..? If listening, how do you do it!!??

Great song, one of my favourites too, although it is by Dj Sakin, not Moby.

The Crystal Method would be classified as techno, Born To Slow, great song.

Take me away and Diving are my favourite 4 Strings songs.

The Lost Brothers - Cry Little Sister (Club Mix) is my favourite.

Chase the Sun - Planet Funk, Out of Touch - Uniting Nations and Dave Armstrong version are also quite good.

Here's my best attempt at answering your question.

Listened to a lot of Heavy Metal / Hard Rock / Rock in the early 90's, as a teenager with the, "world is against me" attitude, and anger in my veins....

Metallica / Iron Maiden / Early Def Leppard Stuff etc...

Then I had a complete turn in 92 or so and was after soothing music and music to sleep to, being:

Classical.... then classical developed into:
Vangelis
Mike Oldfield
Jean Michael Jarre
Tangerine Dream
Early Yes music and their pet projects like Andersen and Vangelis etc...

The above music I would describe as being the music that Mozart would make if he was alive today.

Then from there it was a natural progression to Trance, Epic Trance, Techno etc...

Look I know where you're coming from, circa 93, my younger bro was bringing in Techno / Trance and I used to rant and rave " what a load of Bollocks this trash is".

Over a couple of years, I heard more and more and eventually starting liking it, and the rest is history.

I can't stand the trash that is on the radios these days, including all the so called big bands at the moment.

Its very hard to describe what Trance / Techno means to someone thats a lover of it. The best I can describe it is that its very evocative, meaningful and spiritual.

I dance to it and I listen to it 24/7.

Best site I've ever found is http://www.digitallyimported.com/

I listen to it all the time at work. 24 hours non stop 16 Radio stations, no ads, Techno / Vocal / Hard House / Ambient / Chillout etc...

My $0.02 worth

The latest version.

I'm, err ..... 'mature' (mid-forties), and only recently started listening to the dance/trance/techno stuff. Love it.

Just about anything from the MOS compilations.

The early '90s version? The new one is better though.

Its never too let to get into it.

Give the http://www.digitallyimported.com/ a whirl. When you hear something you like, click on the track listings to see the artist.

Another one is http://www.eurodancehits.com/ Album Reviews and they sample about 10 songs per CD at a 1 minute something each.

Try http://www.timeok.com/ go to playlists, click on the couple of latest DJ sessions, down the bottom right click and save. Usually about 130+ mb mp3

Thanks, TR. I'll check out the links when I get home (I'm supposed to be working . ;) )I've bought the MOS Sessions Two CD, loved it, and sampled some of DJ Tiesto, and a few others. Cool stuff.

I really should go and buy a DVD of Tiesto in concert. Can anyone recommend one (there are a few)?

Yeah I've got Tiesto in Concert 2 x DVD released in Jun 04 http://www.sanity.com.au/product.asp?intProductID=559069&intArtistID=179543

About 3 hours in concert. The visuals are great, but I've heard most of the songs anyway, so in that respect, it was a bit of a let down. Most of the tracks are really from 02 / 03. If you haven't been exposed to too much of the Trance / techno scene, then I'd say its a great buy.

CD I've got Tiesto In search of Sunrise Vol 4 http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007TFI56/102-6046314-6744952?v=glance
was quite disappointing. Its too laid back and most songs don't take me on a journey. Would be more suited as background filler for a BBQ and the like where the music is not so intensive, that you can't zero in on a conversation.

Next on the CD list is Tiesto: Nyana 2 x CD http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000931QO/102-6046314-6744952?v=glance
1 CD is garbage. The second is quite good, but most of the songs are the DVD Concert mentioned above.

I've heard many of his other CD's in Concert late 90's which were absolutely mind-blowing. They would be the better picks.

I keep pretty much up to date in the world of Techno, Trance, House etc with Mixmag magazine [UK], worlds biggest clubbing magazine which always comes with one of those freebie cd's, this month's cd features a house mix by Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso and features Moby, Alex Gopher & Etienne De Crecy, Royksopp, Axwell & more. :thumbsu:

Usually get a couple of rare remixes which otherwise are not avaliable.

Nordic Lounge volumes 1 & 2. Volume 3 has recently been released you can sample the album at the link.

The albums are more soul/jazz/house than techno/dance/hiphop.

Also Thievery Corporation put together a nice sound.

Thanks, so much, guys. I will listen to both lots.

Cheers!
