I think people are quick to forget how good Tambling was before AFL and at the start of his career, absolute dynamite. He was also one of our most important players in 2009 after he had a change in mentality. THe problems with his feet and the lack of confidence just killed him.

Only reason Hawks didn't pick him was because they wanted to put more emphasis on their forward line. Bulldogs wanted him too, just obviously not as bad as they wanted Griffen. Just go back and read newspapers or forum posts from that time, every club wanted him, meanwhile Franklin was seen as inconsistent both on and off the field and was a risky pick.
