Most common quote from people who just quote what others say.

Walker in his first year had some issues which were addressed over the subsequent seasons.

His disposal issues have been ironed out but peoples inability to move on has not.

He has been used as a tagger and stopper since there was no one else in the team even mildly capable of doing this.

He has played on the best player in the opposition team every week for two years from Andrew Mcloud, Goodes, etc.

He is without doubt the most uderated player in the carlton Guernsey and one of the most underated in the league, Is constantly bagged and yet when you actually judge him on his merits rather than preconsepctions he is one of teh best 21 year olds in the game.

Given the opportunity he will be in the top five for our club, if not top 3.

Walker is a genuine talent. I don't think too many would disagree. However whilst his disposal is better it is not where it should be for someone of his talent. He lacks consistency and imo it is mostly due to indecision than any great technical problem. As such I believe once he gets better at handling pressure his kicking will improve to the levels it should be at.

You may be correct that he is one of the best 21 y/o in the game. In fact I think he is. However this doesn't mean he is performing at his best. Personally I don't think he is under rated at Carlton. Perhaps some like me just have higher expectations of his ability and therefore are not as glowing in praise for his efforts as you are.Sure he has had some games where he has burnt but others where he has dropped below what he should have imo.

Fair and reasonable assessment. My point is very simple, Walker is maligned more than so many others. The criticism is harsh, blinkered and lacks even handedness in relation to others.
No effort is made to consider the other aspects of his game, just a constant focus on the occasional shocker.

For things to be even, Lance Whitnall should have his career written of due to the poor goal kicking in round 22. Simpson should be returned to the VFL scrap heap as he cant kick on his right, etc, etc.

Posters like whippersnipper and BLue_Bloys who can not move beyond a single aspect of his game are frustrating in that he has been written off.

Standing in Walkers corner as I have been for a couple of years now defending him has been difficult, and hopefully this year he will have a stellar year and those short sighted posters who are unable to realize genuine talent when they see it will be proven well and truly wrong. Although I suspect they will find some trivial way to dismiss this, as they do Walkers game.

I feel that Walker will soon be seen across the board as a genuine gun, and posts like the ones we have seen recently will leave plenty of egg on peoples faces.

Round 21 against the roos, hey BLue_Bloys, one game, the same game everyone else brings up. Blinkers on the draft horse of the bandwagon.

Not up to AFL standard. Cant mark. Cant kick. Watch the video. Then have the guts to admit this guy needs people to get behind him not finger him for the exception.

His old man was a star at Echuca, would take a hanger everygame as Andrew used to do. Robby his old man, was invited to Geelong, but didnt like the city...cold have been anything so I'm told.

Andrew's disposal has always been what has let him down. However this is a great weakness to have, as it is very easy to improve on.

He has improved each year so far and is a quality player. His disposal will continue to improve beause of his work ethic and mental strength. I'd rather have a player in my side with his endurance, speed, leap, evasive skills, handball skills, overhead marking ability and most importantly strength size and mental toughness.

Players do play with injuries, however not many come back to play the rest of the season with a dodgy groin and a fracture in their shoulder.

I understand once you declare yourself fit you are fair game, however if you look at Andrews foot passing earlier in the year and towards the end of the year there are ligitamant reasons why his kicking standard dropped.

If you've got a broken shoulder and a your groin's gone on the opposite sides of your body, your always ganna struggle.

Remember that he has always been the gap filler for Pagan and played in a really really bad side. Wit his confidence up and some quality players by his side he will be taking those hangers every game and his confidence will be up.

Dont worry all he will be what you want him to be

Walks has taken huge leaps and bounds in the last 2 years and Carlton fans still seem to look elsewhere for comfort. Walks' 2006 was brilliant - he doubled his game stats and took on some big names in defence, beating most of them.

Then this year he was asked more to be a ball carrier from defence and again increased his stats, getting it above 20 per game for the first time in his career.

At age 21.

He's getting there.

Can you imagine him running through half back and wing and now being able to link up with Judd? Two speedsters setting the game alight.

2008 will be Walks' year.

People are claiming that he is not up to afl standard. Im saying thats just ridiculous, and stand by it. It is a ridiculous comment.

Agreed.

He has demonstrated time and time again that he has the potential to be an elite AFL player, and for a 21yo is making very good time in getting there.

Previously my arguments are that this is an area that was highlighted early on in his career and is now constantly singled out for condemnation. People come on here saying the most outrageous comments with out actually considering the reality of the situation. Walker occasionaly makes a stuff up, yes, but if this guy was in another body and played exactly how he does now people would be wowing. It is a perception that refuses to go away rather than the basis of reality.

I agree that this perception that Walker's disposal lets him down exists and I would also suggest the same is the case with Waite.

Over the past few years dispoal in general has been letting us down and is an area that needs to be improved across the board. But Walker and Waite are by no means prime examples of the dispoal issues at Carlton.

I think this innacurate percepion of them only exists because they do everything else so exceptionally well, and make it look so damn good too, that when they do have the occasional clanger it stands out so much more because it has come immediately following such a brilliant flashy passage of play. And as a fan watching it unfold, it does make it sting that extra bit harder.

Mate your a F****ing idiot. I have no problem with Walker I love the guy, but IMO now this is MY OPINION, Walker has been played out of position, for a guy that turns the ball over as much as he does he would be far more suited to be in the forward line.

He has tremendous flair and his decision making is 10x better than it is in the backline. I didn't mind him in the middle,

But with the likes of Judd, Stevens, Carrazzo, Simpson, Murphy he will find it hard to find a permanent position as a centre/on baller.

So yes have a go at me for pointing out the deficiencies in his game and also for asking the question of where people think he will be played next season, because gee we wouldn't want some honest discussion here instead of overrating all our players like you seem to be doing.

Walker has the potential to be the best player in the comp, but you know what atm it's just potential....
