Finally our list gets the change over it needs!

Every player he has brought in has the right attitude.
Every player he has cut has either the wrong attitude or just doesn't have what it takes to play consistently at AFL level.

Finally a new culture can start to emerge! All the players he's has brought in will help mold and grow our younger leaders. I remember Neeld furiously taking notes during the round 1 game V brisbane. I had a feeling then that this guy has the passion and balls to make changes.

I have been waiting for some of these players to be cut for a good 3 years now. Best thing to happen to our club since 2001!

Our fans need to give him until 2015, but with a bit of patience I am sure we'll see a new Melbourne emerge.

Thank god for Mark Neeld.

After hearing about Neale Danihers 'ruthlessness' which was all talk.

After sitting through 3 seasons of Bailey where literally nothing was achieved and he was soft as butter and set us back so far.

Finally, FINALLY... someone with balls is leading our club.

Someone who doesn't give a shit what people think and will do whatever it takes to turn things around;

Someone who doesnt give a shit what your name is and what you've done at the MFC in the past.

FINALLY SOMEONE WITH SOME BALLS TO GET RID OF OUR CANCEROUS PLAYERS WHO WERE HOLDING THE CLUB BACK

thank god for Mark Neeld

Lets just hang on a sec......I am rapt with our turnovers no doubt about that but i feel for some of our lads that did not get to showcase ther talent due to injury....i wish good luck to all our players we have let go because they deserve some form of success.

The blind faith here is every bit as bad as the emo pessimism.

I think you'll find those with the "blind faith" have brought up a variety of reasons as to why they are so happy with the turnover. It's not blind at all.

In: Awesome players
Out: Shit-stains and cancers

It wouldn't matter who we got rid of or bought in some will praise anything the Dear Leader does.

I'm a bit over my Addam Maric like day of yesterday, but I feel like I've seen this all before with Bails.

Why criticise Daniher, anyone? Was bloody great for this club, even better if he'd had half the infrastructure Neeld has.

Would take him back if we were without a coach.

Yes! , I believe that Neeld is going to be a great coach. Some might say that Rodan, Dawes , And brynes are old and finished or they are 'duds' but one thing they all share in common is premierships under their belts and have been raised in teams with winnings cultures.

Speed and forwards seems to be what we need in this team, and that's exactly what we got. congratulations to Neeld and the recruiting staff on producing a productive trade selection.

I dont think its quite blind faith, I have questioned some of trades that have gone through, but at the end of the day, none of the players traded out had much influence over our 2012 season, and if Neeld doesn't see them influencing our 2013 season (and he is better placed than any of us), then whats the point of keeping them. And you'd think the players get the message, talent alone doesn't earn you a spot on this list anymore

Bailey was different though - his turnover was minimal in some ways, in that he axed the experience and didn't bring in any from elsewhere and just went through the draft and, after the last few weeks, we all know how well that went. I might be in the minority but I reckon this is very different to Bailey.

Agree with you on Daniher - loved the bloke and he did some brilliant things with the list. Was far from perfect and he left at the right time but the good memories FAR outweigh the bad.

I dont see any blind faith???

Nobody said he was going to take us to tjhe promised land, or even up the ladder

But hes doing what had to be done, and should have been done years ago and what not many other coaches would have had the balls to do

If you cant see that, you wont see anything,

Sad to see some many players go, especially when they were talented juniors, but for whatever reason, they never got the best out of themselves, and were cut for good reason.

Neeld has inherited a very poor list, with a bad mix of young and senior players, non of which have a lot of leadership. He has cut what needed to be cut and can now start to put his influence on these guys. As far as i am concerned, Neeld senior coaching career starts now.

Very interesting to note, that all guys that were spoken about 'as rumors' to be traded, have now been cut. I remember the first week of free agent, hearing the Cooks, Gysberts, Mortons, Bennells, Petterds, Martins names being thrown around and all were true. Just goes to show Neeld made no secret of the fact he wanted these guys gone at whatever cost.

Not blind faith at all. I'm well aware his decisions may work or come back to haunt him. At least he's doing something though. He'll live or die by the sword. I really have been waiting for this since 2001. We haven't been nearly ruthless enough since then.

Plus we should still have some good cap space lying around to re-sign our younger brigade and be active at the end of next year as well. I know Dawes will be on good money but Rivers and Moloney would have been on good money also. I feel as though we have gotten better while keeping the salary cap well and truly intact as well. :thumbsu:

Spot On

The Reverend did an amazing job with what he had at his disposal (not a lot)

Take a bow - Neal Daniher :)

Good to know we wont see a lot of players on the field ast the same time with around 11 possessions between them. No more Bennell excites me, pity about Jetta staying

I think you're right. The warchest will well and truly be ready to be opened next year. I've heard the club didn't go really hard at any big fish in the FA/Trade Period this year for two reasons.

1. We knew we weren't the most attractive of destinations at this point in time.

2. They're waiting for GWS 2011 draftees to come out of contract. Anyone that thinks some of them aren't coming home next year is just wrong.

Am amazed the amount of crap Neeld is copping over this cleanout from some dees supporters tbh. Strikes me as strange that everyone (that I knew at least) had been calling out for a cull of players without mercy, then when it happens, they crack the darkies. I've been pretty darn pleased with the way things have gone. At least they have a plan and are trying to make it happen. They might turn out to be wrong, and they'll have to deal with the consequences of that if it happens, but at long last I actually feel confident that the bloke running the joint has a plan. Well done so far

Would love to snare one of their good players as well. Revenge is a dish best served cold. ;)

But I agree with you re: the attractiveness of the club - we aren't a club high on anyone's list but hopefully our on field performance and a big change in culture will turn that around. I liked Rodan's comments about our pitch to him and how impressed he was with the club - I know it's small but it's something, particularly after Barrett said no-one wanted to play here. We've added seven blokes already who are 100% behind the club and there will be more to come. :thumbsu:

I'm very disappointed with the treatment given to Gysberts (good player, only 3 years in the system, injured this year) and reckon we were torched by the bloody Kangas in that trade. Hopefully Pedo is more than just VFL star.

The rest of the trade week I'm rather happy with. Great to see Neeld at least having a crack and not relying on "getting games into the kids" mantra that DB used to preach. No wonder we have been so crap.

When Prendagast went to meet with Nev and his mum in Bunbury she said we had to draft his cousin, Lewis. He'd been overlooked at a few drafts already. We took the Gys at 11. He went at 14. If only we'd listened to her.

Can we hire her as a recruiter?

I hear there's a position available... I wonder when this Collingwood fella will officially join our recruiting team??? After the drafts obviously.
