Will forever be remembered as a superstar player.
Couldn't believe when i saw that the Doggies had let him go.

Absolute champion of the game.

Here's to a brilliant career

Scott West
- 7 time club best and fairest (club record)
- 5 time All-Australian
- 5 times finished top 4 in the Brownlow
- 7th highest vote getter in Brownlow history
- 3rd highest amount of games for the Bulldogs

A champion and a legend of the club. If he played for a bigger club his name would sit alongside with the best of his era. I remember him kicking 6 goals against Essendon at the Western Oval in one of his first games. Amazing longevity, his hands are incredible. Scott West was like sex and pizza, even when he was bad he was pretty good.

Thank you Scott West.

I can't really imagine Westy not being around for the dogs anymore. Week in week out for years you'd just go to the game and expect the champ to be there getting his 35-40 touches in the guts and being at the bottom of every pack.

An absolute champion of the game. I'm gonna go watch his last quarter against essendon 2000.

Thanks Westy

Thanks Westy, you gave your heart and soul, your entire being in every kick, handball, mark, tackle and effort you contributed to our beloved Bulldogs.

You are one of the greatest to have ever pulled on the red, white and blue and have earned yourself legendary status amongst us all.

I hope and pray that we see you still involved with the Bulldogs in either a Coaching capacity or as an advisor/mentor to our young blokes.

**** I'll miss you out there and so will countless others.

A Champion Player...
One player you definatly want on your side going into battle..
Has given the club every drop he has left.
Will be greatly missed, your legacy will live on.

I'm not great with words.

I hope it's OK that I borrow yours.

Thanks Watchdog, and thankyou Scotty West.

I can only echo all the sentiments of this thread. What a champion.

The next question is will the football community get a chance to acknowledge Scott's great career at this years Grand Final? IMO all parties should move heaven and earth to ensure Scott and his family get to be part of the annual send off.

I appreciate he is pissed off at the moment but I think even that is starting to recede as the reality of his situation becomes clearer. And I think as the magnitude of the love and respect he has from all bulldogs and most football supporters becomes evident we can all get over the undoubted pain.

And finally it would be only fitting for Coons and Westy to share the Grand Final trip. It is ironic but it was Scott West who gave Adam Cooney the opportunity to win Charlie. A fit Westy in the midfield would have scored at least 8 - 12 Brownlow votes and certainly resulted in Coons missing out...

So lets see if this can be made to happen.

Cheers.... and I look forward to Scott West being one of the great mid field coaches of all time starting in 2009.

Beautifully put Rocco.

Westy's amazing and courageous work in close for 15 seasons made other players look better.

It's a sad day that had to come at some stage. Think of all the stars of the game who have found it so hard to give it away. The game and the club has been his life for so many years.

No doubt if Scott had been able to play this year he might have been able to delay the inevitable a bit longer. Nevertheless he will go out as a legend of the club and I hope he will be able to keep contributing to the Dogs' success by perhaps some midfield coaching role. Our current midfield owe their reputation to the inspirational leadership of Westy.

Thanks for everything, Scott, you will be remembered very fondly and with great admiration by Dogs fans and the wider footy community.

Thanks champ :thumbsu: well played

I remember being in Gladstone Qld in 1993 a bloody long way from home and seeing on the TV highlights a young bloke called Scott West got 6 goals against someone.:thumbsu:

My memories are all rolled into one. It's always the last quarter, doesn't matter if we're 10 goals down, Scott West is at the bottom of the pack, then somehow he has made yet another effort and is dishing it out to a team mate. Time and again, I could not believe the size of the man's heart. Thanks westy.

I wrote on this board a few years ago that I was very disappointed when Scott West was given Dougie's #7. I did not think him worthy of wearing the number of the player who I loved. However, as time passed, I acknowledged that Scott not only deserved the number of my hero, but that he himself, became a footy hero to me. And much more than that.

Anyone who has dealt with a loved one who suffers from depression could only admire the courage it took Westy to speak about his most personal affliction. I will never forget him for that.

Scott West is what can be so positive about sport. The courage he showed on and off the oval was an inspiration for not only me, but for so many others I'm sure. Westy may not have won a Brownlow, but he will always be the Fairest and Best and Most Courageous in my book. Vale, Scott. And thanks.

Scotty West is the best bulldog I have seen in my time. His ability to extract the ball from a pack was second to none and his defensive skills were extremely underrated.

A true legend.

Scott, you have been a magnificent champion all of these years, you will be missed so greatly. Hope you will be in the stands cheering the boys on next year.

Thankyou for everything you have given this club.

Go Dogs
