Its been 5 years since you joined the club along side Bryce and while his career has been one of steady improvement, yours has been one of jumping from injury to injury.

You have tantalised us with glimpses of the raw talent you possess only to dash our hopes with yet another untimely injury ruling you out for weeks at a time.

Utimately, it seemed that the club ran out of patience waiting for you to have an uninterupted season and have decided to let you go... However, press on with your career as a footballer, go back to the SANFL for a couple of seasons to get it all back together again and then try again to make your mark in the AFL.

Best of luck for the future Aussie... you proudly wore the old dark navy for 5 years.

Whilst his career never reached the heights we hoped it might, he did what all of us here have dreamt of many times. Wearing the navy blue.
Cheers and the all the best Aussie!

I wish him well for the future. I'm glad to hear that we wont be discussing him adnauseum on this messageboard too.

I hope he nominates for one of the drafts and someone takes a chance on him.

AFL ready body and fitness wise and hopefully ongoing injuries are behind him.

All the best Mark. :(

Injuries can dent a player's confidence in their body and end them before they even get started. Striking similarities to Gumbleton who was picked in the same draft as Austin, yet can't stay on the park.

I feel the same way about your posts.

better than that other thread by that bloke just pi**ing on him.

Great bloke at the footy club, and is dissapointing that he never reached his potential. Good luck for the rest of your career!

Cam Cloke was drafted as a mature rookie by Port.I'd be for putting Austin on the rookie list, but I think that we'll move on. Giants should have a look at O'hAilpin and Austin as short term filler. They wouldn't be any worse than Brogan who is running around on one leg due to a bad achilles.

Bit disappointed in the club that the only official thing written about Aussie being delisted was at the bottom of the article stating that Setanta was delisted. There is normally a short article thanking the player for their service ala the rookie delisting article.:thumbsd:

Thanks Mark. You had a lot of fans at the club and although I wasn't one of your biggest admirers I support anyone who had the guts to continuously work through their injuries and try and put out their best performance on the park. :thumbsu:

He'll be back in the AFL make no bones about it.

I'm not sure about him making the AFL again, not all players make it, but good luck to him at least he can say he was on a AFL list for 5 years and played.

Great thread

Had a chance to have a chat to Aussie when he first got to the club at the GM (might have been Collo's last to be honest), a rivetting night.

Anyway, had a chat to Aus in the dunnies (nah, not the famous outside stinky dunnies at PP, , inside the old social club). Look, he's a genuinely shy, well mannered young man, who as one poster said earlier at least got to do what most of us can only dream of, got to wear the navy blue!

All the best young man, may the future be fruitful, and rich in its pickings!

Go Blues!

I hate delistings. :(

At 22, Austin might be young enough to get a place on a rookie list somewhere.

Loved that video, particularly the part where Hammer says he learnt about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis).

These kids are dragged out of school, often (as in Hammers and Aussies case), taken interstate for what is a once in a lifetime opportunity. With no life skills and really in the case of a lot of players, they leave with nothing that can help them in their future life. Good to see the club really do care, and are providing opportunities and education for these young men for when their footy careers are finished!

I love footy!

Go Blues!

Needed a lot of time to develop his game but never got an extended run at it. bit of a shame. henderson's success was the nail in his chances really. hope he does something next season in a minor league.

Sometimes players just don't quite make the grade. Aussie came really close and gave it a red hot crack, but didn't have the luck he needed with his body to get him over the line. Good luck, and thanks.

Thanks Mark.

Disappointed we will not see the best of you as I believe you have what it takes to play in the big time. Here's hoping for an injury free run somewhere, would not be disappointed if we were to get you back.

I knew this day was coming, but I'm still sad.

I  Austin.

Hopefully he can go back to the SANFL and then do a Duigan! :thumbsu:

All the best Aussie.
