In the back of my mind I am really freaking at the thought of playing Hawthorn in the last round. It could end being the battle for 8th spot.

If Hawthorn continue in this vein of form you can forget about us even coming close to them in Rd 22. They looked unbelieveably fluid and confident. Hodge, Lewis, Bateman, Birchall, Guerra, Taylor, Ellis and Mitchell have all liffted. Add Franklin and Rioli onto that crop and they should make the 8 from here.

After Carlton's thumping win today they should only have to win 2 more games, and considering their soft draw, they will do that comfortably.

Port should take care of WC tomorrow, followed by 4 more home games for them.

We, on the other hand, had the Bulldogs by the throat yet somehow let our finals chances slip.

Quite possibly could come down to that.

Just watching a replay of the game now. Incredibly frustrating.
We really did have a chance to take that game and a good side punished us.
Really wIsh Knights had played Hurley forward in the 3rd 1/4.

Their opposition tonight was insipid. Easily their worst game of the year.

The Hawks have an incredibly tough three weeks. We'll revisit this then.

They've got Geelong next week, will likely ruin their confidence. To be honest, the media may be saying "They're back!" after one game against a team who was due for a loss, but when I sit down, think, and look at the upcoming draw, it just doesn't seem possible. What people don't understand is, the ladder (top 4 down) is pretty much useless 5 weeks before finals. I predict them to lose to Geelong & St Kilda two weeks after & people will forget about them. They have 4 of the top 5 teams coming up... seriously?
Let them have their temporary celebration, just don't let it intimidate you.

The Hawks are the same team we faced earlier this year (Rioli was running) & what did we do?... we outran them, outjumped them & outkicked them. Franklin isn't kicking 9 anymore, and the Pies missed so many shots on goal last night, it wasn't funny.

Our draw, while tradable, is much better & I see us in good form come Round 22. However, I still believe Round 22 won't be the decider when it comes to our finals chances.

That's my two cents.

Unbelievably? Really?

You need a new dictionary.

As for these players you've mentioned, the only ones to stand out for me in the "unbelievably fluid" form were Buddy & Rioli. Buddy isn't kicking 9 anymore, though. Shame.

What you forgot though, is that all of these players were available when we played them earlier in the year. Yes, even Rioli. We were too quick & thumped them by 44 points. Their current win means nothing to me, as they will resort to rushing behinds against Geelong & St Kilda in the next 3 weeks.

Let our finals chances slip?... gee Goldenboy, you sure know how to out-do yourself every time I witness each of your posts.

How the hell, did we let our finals chances slip by losing to the Bulldogs?

3 weeks ago, I didn't expect us to win at all, and losing to them does not, ruin our chances come September. We could even lose to the Hawks & we'd still have a good crack at it.

There's no need to exaggerate.

I'm just annoyed that those black & white sods buggered up my multi which was travelling really well until they decided to get their pants pulled down.
should have been the safest leg too.

Your negativity is ridiculous. If not for your user name, you could resemble a Carlton troll. As for that last comment, to say a loss against a top side cost us a finals chance, think again.

The only way we are going to make the finals is off the back of our own performances. If we win the games we can win and get a win against Brisbane or Hawthorn, I'm sure we will make the finals. There is no point in sitting back and hoping that other teams do it for us.

Is it just me or is every result going against us at the moment? Especially Collingwood. They beat us, then we wont the dogs to beat them (which doesn't happen), and now we actually want the Pies to win and they **** us around again.

Footy can be so frustrating

Collingwood are always a bad match for the Hawks if Hawthorn get their midfield structure right. The Pies love playing from inside out . They like to have players leading out of the middle to the wing and leaving the space wide to lead up into.
Hawthorn at their best love to give sides the boundry line so they can get their midfield zone set up and cut them off at half forward and then switch the play to the other side.

It will be interseting to see how the Hawks deal with the sides that try and stretch the zone through the middle in the coming weeks.
Being one game out i would not be writing them off like a lot of people have.

Hawthorn and Port have got a few tough games coming up plus they play each other. We just have to win the games we should and hopefully one we shouldn't. Be positive! :thumbsu:

Great post, you also forgot to mention that we are a great chance to beat the lions down here. That would more than make up for the hawks loss (if it happens in R22). I can see us winning our next 3 games, which would be great to win 3 in a row for once this year. Our best football has been played outside this year not at the dome and with our draw we will make finals, I think 7th tho.
