Over the last 4 weeks I've attempted to listen into 5AA "sports show" and every single time I've had to put up with 15 minutes of Port Power this and Port Magpies that hence it gets turned off.

So this morning I turn on to be greeted by 3 Power Fans (1 ex Port Magpies player) and Chris McDermott and guess what they are talking about the ****ing Port team again.

I realise the Port Power fans have had a whinge over the last few years of under representation but they now have 75% of the on air hosts which is a bizarre set up considering how few people actually follow them or apparently care about them.

I guess my problem isn't with the commentators as much in reality they are payed to be non-bias (well apart from Russell Ebert) but its the content, there is seriously only so much I care to hear about the ****ing Power and all there woes, why can't they talk about the Scorpions or the Adelaide Croquet club, hell i'd even rather listen to Eddie McGuire talk about the Collingwoods prospects of making 2 billion dollars to the garbage being served up right now.

Just to clarify, i'm not complaining about the lack of Crows content, I don't really care about that - its the off season FFS, just give me something else than the ****ing Port

Re: The 5AA moring Port Show?

After hearing the panel will consist of Dittmar, Ginever and Rucci plus Clarke or Wildy (on rotation I believe), have decided that I won't be listening to 5AA anymore on Saturday mornings.

Whats with the continual Port everywhere? There marketing department must be working overtime. Obviously as the saying goes, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil" and thats what is happening.

Their only problem is that as the ship goes under in 2010, the wolves will be out all over the place.

What chance do we have Mattys our ONLY hope but he will just get drowned out Least with Rowey we have ONE voice - although Father of Chad and Kane and obviously he is still bitter about getting the sack - still has more to say than he should

Dittmar is worse than eagle beak rucci and mcdermott combined

Well may we say god save the queen cause nothing will save us on 5aa-port power radio

Re: The 5AA moring Port Show?

I see where you're coming from, but the most important SA footy topics at the moment are the AO debacle, the Power's and the maggies' situation, and any discussion orbiting those issues. I didn't listen to the programme but I'm guessing it revolved around the Ports' futures and the ways they can survive...new players, getting players back in form, winning to bring in the crowds...was this the gist of it? If it was, I guess it's only to be expected.

Re: The 5AA moring Port Show?

Thats the funny part We all know their situation we all know why they are in their current situation we all know how it can be fixed but alas all they do is make it worse first it was the creed now they want to join port adelaide and port power.Yep that will work that will bring in new members and get enough non football people interested in the club so they can survive with out getting incorrect handouts. We all know that once the Crows got in first there is no way Port should have got the second gig.Even phoned the port power saturday radio show on the topic and all rooch could say is they had to keep the exsisting port people happy maybe they did but now its obvious there aint enough they surley have to at least try something else

Re: The 5AA moring Port Show?

.... they had to keep the exsisting port people happy ....

Was he talking about 'existing' as meaning current magpie supporters, or old magpie supporters who were supposed to now be the Power supporters...or are they supposed to be one and the same?? I know quite a few Power supporters who will never follow the magpies, and I know magpie supporters who will never follow the Power.

But why should we be bothered with this? I don't care what they do, as long as all other effected parties have a say in what ultimately happens with their proposed merger.

Back to your topic, Ditts is a good man even if he can't hide his enthusiasm and passion for the power. I don't think I've ever heard him bad mouth about the crows. Same with Russell E. He's a Power man but he tries his best to give a balanced view. Rucci on the other hand, generally tries to throw in some barbs, but you know you're always going to get this from him.

Remember, Rowey and Cornes are so crows biased most of the time throughout the week :thumbsu:, the time devoted to the Power on the weekends probably indicates the right ratio of crows : Power supporters. Ha ha, I like it that way.

I guess you didn’t listen too much during or after Dangerfield was drafted in favour of Brad Ebert. He couldn’t help but bad mouth the club.

Thats it they thought both clubs would become one and live happy ever after thats what i thought and am shoked to hear port adelaide supporters bad mouth the power and power supporters bad mouth port adelaide.I guess if it did become one happy family in 97 then they would have a big supporter base but looks like that was handled as well as their attempt in 1990

Ditts sticks the knives in every chance he gets and along with Aiston is the most patronising media person we have

Dont be fooled by old man stud he is in a ratings game he was sacked by us and has 2 sons playing for port power

No, I didn't hear much of what he said about that. I was going on how I've found him to be in the past. But I'm happy to join in bagging any power supporter. :D What did he have to say?

Can't remember what Ebert was saying exactly that day, but is was one of the most biased efforts I have witnessed from a SA media person, ever.

It was basically along the lines of the Crows have ****ed up with this selection of Patrick Dangerfield and our family will make them pay for not selection my nephew - how dare they not select him, he is an Ebert.

It was also his smug and condescending tones that pissed me off.

Yeah that sums it up well, anytime since then I have heard Port people complain about 5AA I simply laugh. Nothing has ever equalled that morning for sheer unheld bias.

During showdowns when he was calling game for AA in the early part of this decade he was exactly the same with his condescending attitude towards the Crows – especially when Port was winning. it was unbelievable, he would basically laugh at our mistakes.

5aa Sports power show and Sat Mornings

Only according to the Port Adelaide fans, but they will whinge about anything. For the percentage of supporters that club has, they get more than an adequate amount of media in this town.

Independent marketing experts have said Port Adelaide should position itself around its history. If you look at it logically, it makes sense.

As for the morning show, never listened to it. Don't listen to 5AA.

To be fair, we had similar comments here from Adelaide fans at the time

But yeah, he was spitting chips. Basically the tone of it was that his son was good enough to play here and that the Crows, through sheer incompetence, had forced his nephew to move interstate to a club which had just gone through a number of culture issues. The concept that Dangerfield could be better than the kid never even entered his mind.

It's looking like a pretty competent decision now !

Totally agree Never said it shouldn't of course it makes sense and what a great history it was/is However what I am saying to get the $$$ needed to survive you need bums on seats and ideally membership tickets in hands. As it stands in this state at the moment that ain't goin to happen and was never going to happen once we got in first.

Maybe Tassie ain't such a bad idea people wanting to follow a AFL side and concerned at ol wounds

From time to time Independent marketing experts say lots of different things, doesn’t make them right.

When an Independent marketing experts does a focus group study on a particular subject and direct it towards a group of people who want this change made, of course they are going to get the answer they are looking for. As an independent marketing expert, if I went to a ‘everyone loved dirty water’ convention and asked 1000 people what was better, dirty water or Coke – I will get the result I’m looking for.

The Port Adelaide football Club need to implement a paradigm shift away from the word ‘Port’ or ‘Adelaide’ - have it as either Port Power or Western Port of Adelaide or some other connotation but the name ‘Port Adelaide’ isn’t working. Non Port Adelaide people clearly don't care and there are not enough Port Adelaide people to make it economically viable.

Utter crap. Look, we are not a state team juggernaught like West Coast and the Crows, we are not a powerful big club like Collingwood or Essendon, what we are is a suburban club like most of the rest of the Vic clubs who are struggling due to poor onfield performances. Apart from the 4 clubs previously mentioned our crowd figures are pretty similar to the rest of the clubs (when playing interstate teams) when going through a bad patch except maybe Freo who are perenially in a bad patch and their supporters know no different. It just seems we are judged harshly for getting a 23,000 crowd at a game at 12:30pm on a Sunday at AAMI, where as Carlton or Richmond do the same at Ethiad against interstate oppostion, it is simply glossed over because they are playing an interstate team. These kind of crowd figures will actually become more prevelant in Victoria when Gold Coast and GWS come in. We just need to start winning and get a stadium deal that is not based on the Adelaide Football clubs crowd figures, which if stripped back to home supporters are probably the highest in the league, then we'll be alright.

Boo ****ing who – by virtue of accepting the second licence awarded to the SANFL (that’s right, not the Port Adelaide football club but the SANFL and that includes all 9 clubs) in 1995; your club agreed to accept the terms and conditions set out by the licence owner. Your club failed to go alone when you tried to screw everyone over in 1990 and that’s why your licence was awarded to the SANFL, not the Port Adelaide Football Club. You’re only a sub licensee. Your club has responsibilities to the other 9 clubs and that’s why you need to strive to become a powerhouse club.

The SANFL set the goal post to maximise both licence earning capacity and in doing so, gives the entire South Australian football community an opportunity to survive. Like it or not, your club has to strive to become a powerhouse club because that’s where the goal post lay and that’s what this state needs. Plus your club needs to stop using that piss weak excuse that “were just a small suburban club” as a copout because you knew the terms and conditions of enter when you applied for the licence.

If you don’t like the deal, give the licence back. I’m sure centrals or South Adelaide would happily accept it.

BTW – you cannot compare yourself to a small Victorian club because you have 9 other club sitting under your position of hierarchy and if that’s your clubs attitude that they done matter and don’t deserve anything, the SANFL should piss both your clubs off for being selfish arses.

The South Australian football league made Port Adelaide who they are; Port Adelaide didn’t make the South Australian Football League.
