The avalanches new cd!

sorry to get your hopes up but this thread is not about the long awaited second lp but still deserves a lot of attention.

the avalanches have released a mix cd (compiled of 42 mashups) titled "After the Gold Rush"

the albums contains mixes from artists as diverse as Bob Dyland and Queen to Aphex Twin and Bubba Sparxx.

it's had a limited release so finding it in stores is difficult. i just ordered my copy online

and the Avalanches have informed the world via Myspace that their new album is having the final touches added

Modular promise new Avalanches record finished by Christmas

This week Modular Records head Steve Pav told triple j there'll be a brand new album from The Avalanches very soon.

"After many, many moons and several years that have passed by and several promises of getting a new album I've been assured that on Christmas Day they're going to deliver their new album to my little grotty hands."

When The Avalanches released their debut Since I Left You back in 2000, they got massive critical and popular acclaim all around the world.

They've been promising a follow-up ever since.

Pav reckons the group has scrapped 2 or 3 albums along the way but they've finally got a bunch of tracks they're happy with.

"I think they some ideas about doing different kind of things and maybe taking a different direction and at some point along the way they just went well, who are we fooling. Let's just make an Avalanches record."

Yes please Santa!!
