Well they should go alright...5 of Richmonds recent first round national draft picks are playing. Will Mr Beck be watching ?

1996 ; Steinfort - 16
1998 ; Hilton - traded for 8
1999 - Fiora - 3
2000 ; Pettifer - 8
2002 ; Schulz - 12
and Blumfield 28 ?
Mills ; Nicholls ; Vardy ; McGrath, King and rookie Shir are probably at the right level though.
4 players missing : Hall/Dunc/Gaspar/Sipthorp...
and rookies : Moore and Pickering

Gee they must be getting desperate with him to play him at FB !!! I couldn't think of anyone less appropriate, his accountability is non-existent.

First time he's ever pushed someone and he gets reported. :D

Schulz should come in this week i reckon he was named as best as well, Blumfield kicked 3 and i reckon he should come back in. Drop Houlihan and Rogers. Leave Rodan, Krakouer and Hyde on the ground for most of the match.

I have to agree with you there Kretchy. I have been a supporter of Rogers but after those two shocking misses from set shots on Saturday night I think it's time to see what Schulz can do. Surely if skinny runts like Fisher for Carlton can get a run and who was picked at #76 in the draft then Schulz must be given some game time. He couldn't be any worse than what a few of the guys dished up for us against Adelaide. I agree also that Hyde should get more of a run as he looks pretty good under pressure and gets more hardball in one qtr of football than Pettifer or Fiona would in a season. Blumfield kicked 3 goals but wasn't in the best players for Coburg so I would be surprised to see him get promoted this week.

Blumfield set for senior recall

Former Essendon premiership star Justin Blumfield is almost certain to be rushed back into Richmond's side for Saturday's critical match against Geelong at Telstra Dome.

Blumfield resumed playing with Coburg Tigers against Tasmania in the VFL last Sunday after missing more than two months with a serious thigh injury. He tore his thigh muscle away from the bone during Richmond's Round 4 victory over St Kilda at Telstra Dome on Easter Monday (April 21) just as he was starting to find touch with his new AFL club.

A solid three-goal 'comeback' effort for Coburg down in Tassie last weekend is bound to convince the Richmond selectors that he's ready for senior action again.

"Justin kicked two goals in the first quarter and looked pretty good," said Richmond's Football Manager Greg Hutchison.

"He got a bit tired after that, which was to be expected, given the time he's had out. Overall, however, he worked fairly solidly and got through the game well, which was most pleasing because we need him back playing good football for us.

"It's hard to know how he'll go second-up from a long spell, but I'm sure that when the coaches sit down and have a look at it, they'll be eyeing an interchange spot for someone of Justin's calibre."
