I found it on the net at the start of the week, so I had a good week to sample it before I bought it today.

There isn't too many filler songs on the album - with the exception of the last two tracks. But apart from that, you can confortably play the album from start to finish and not get too bored. It's equal with Begins Here IMO.

Standout tracks:

Aisles of White
Gone
Reach
In a Memory (sounds like Cog)

I picked it up today with the new Muse CD.

I would like to know the reasoning behind releasing "Phoenix" last year. It nearly put me off buying the album, terrible song and a poor direction for the band. Thankfully it doesn't make an appearance on the CD.

Yeah saw it for $20 so thought worth the investment.

Listened through once and it didnt really grab me, I'll give it another whirl. Certainly looking forward to seeing them at the Gov later in the year.:thumbsu:

Had this since release day. Decent album although probably not as good as Begins Here. Was really ****ed that it was copy protected, no warning or anything.
Really looking forward to seeing em when they visit us.

Also had Imago since it came out and i havent come close to tiring of it yet. It is vying with Muse for my album of the year.

Loved Begins Here, but this one has really suprised me by how mature and textured it is. The production is amazing and the performance is flawless, particularly Clint's vocals.

But its the song writing that really impresses about this band. Begins Here has some awesome tunes and i still regularly listen to it, but while they were superbly played and the tune son that album were just a little too obviously influenced by the likes of A Perfect Circle and Deftones. Imago is just a massive step forward. Cant wait to see them live in August.

Took me a while to get into it but a great album, doesnt quite shade Begins Here however its one of the best of the year.

But the main reason I'm bumping is because I'm going to see them on Saturday night finally! THeir first return to Tassie since about 2003. The Launceston show sold out yesterday apparently so it should be an awesome atmosphere while going off, cant wait to hear Reach and Aisles of White. And only $25!

You'll love them live....ENORMOUS sound. Listen out for the drum sound...HUGE! (well it was the only time I've been lucky enough to catch them). That album has grown on me heaps, and will definitely be in my top 10 for 2006.

Live:

Karnivool > Cog > TBE

I haven't seen Karnivool live, but if they are better than Cog, I'll eat a yard of sh1t.

Cog at The Palace a few weeks ago was so ****ing immense that my jaw still drags along the ground. I have seen TBE twice this year, and the first show was good, the second average. Cog have them covered for everything.

Cog are so good it's stupid.

For me, live....

Karnivool = Cog = TBE

I'll see Karnivool at MSfest next March which should be good.

Saw Cog at the last MSfest and wasnt overly impressed although I set very high standards and considering it was in the afternoon probably didnt help. Played awesome but didnt let out the "Intenseness" that everyone raves about. Maybe if they actually played a show in Tassie I could find out.

I'll soon find out about the Butterfly Effect....

I'd just about agree with the Karnivool>COG live thing (haven't seen TBE)
COG are my favourite band and IMO don't have a single weak song in their lineup, still listen to them VERY frequently. Karnivool are damn good, Themata was great but doesn't hold a candle to The New Normal.
Live however it's a different story. COG are great live, the music is kickass, changing up the songs a bit and all those things I love in live music. There's just something missing though, I think they are a bit quiet (when I saw them at the Clipsal I just assumed there were restrictions but they were reasonably quiet at HQ too.) I could hear people pretty easily over them and when the crowd singing almost drowns out the music it's a bit of a problem. Also the crowd at HQ was **** and that brought the gig down a bit.
Karnivool are amazing live. Don't change things up as much as Cog do but the energy from the band is electric, don't think I've ever seen a lead singer so excited about performing. Crowd was perfect at Karnivool and it was my gig of the year.
