Sure, this Board has become moribund with Scott "Menzies" Morrison in power for the next 3 terms and a s**t ALP opposition.

But this fascist reporter raiding and human rights suppressing govt just keeps on getting worse with the cases of witness K and Bernard Collaery.

Fire up Politics Board!

I am astonished no-one has posted about this. It is utterly appalling.

As a contractor to a contractor to a contractor the public service, I'm not allowed to say anything except praise every move of the current government, under potential threat of being sacked.
You should convert to faith, under the proposed religous freedom act that will give you pretty much carte blanche to say what you like.

Plead guilty but spared imprisonment

The former Australian spy known as Witness K has been handed a three-month suspended sentence for conspiring to reveal classified information about an alleged Australian operation to bug East Timor’s cabinet rooms during sensitive oil and gas treaty negotiations.

In a sentencing hearing in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, magistrate Glenn Theakston chose not to jail the former spy, who was obscured from the view of the courtroom behind a wall of black panels.

Witness K pleaded guilty to the charges on Thursday. He is now subject to a 12-month good behaviour bond...

Now get Witness K an Order of Australia medal. They saw governmental wrongdoing (outright theft more like) in the Timor Gap and decided at risk to themselves to make this known.

This is the stuff of heroes. Thiis is the sort of person we should all aspire to be.

Yeah but what's left of John Howard's tattered reputation is still in tact.

I know. And Alexander Downer didn't have even a mediocre reputation that could fall further, so he's bullet-proof. Nor George Brandis (who, as attorney-general at the time must have had some kind of oversight with regards to the bugging op). F*ckers.
