In: Patto, Special K, Wade, Maxwell and Watson

Replace Maxwell with Johnson IMO. Otherwise the bowling attack is Patto, Sids, Lyon.....Maxwell.... (unless Watson actually decides he can and will bowl).

So 3 quicks and a spinner avg 65? Maxwell is avg 31 with the ball.

I'd nearly say thanks Sids but take a rest make. A long 12 months coming up and play Johnson.

Yeah but the selectors have shown they would rather play someone because they are left armed than because they are a better bowler. They would see it as sinful to play two off spinners in the one team!

My view is that Johnson would probably do quite well here but that aside let's not pretend Maxwell actually bowled well. He bowled terribly and was donated a few wickets when the score was already mammoth proportions.

The conditions don't suit fast bowlers here, as we know, but I think they have proved that they were always our best chance of success. Our spinners are quite simply, not good enough, regardless of the favourable conditions. India have shown their is a substantial difference between being a spinner (used loosely for our blokes) and being a capable spinner (let alone a good one).

Edit: While I think 3 quicks are the go, happily piss Lyon off for Maxwell. More erratic but Lyon is so non-threatening that we may as go with the 'shit gets wickets' approach.

I thought the last test was about the worst batting line up we've taken into a test before... until today.

If he has any part in our future you'd think he'd be in the team for this test. Talent wise, he should be there.
Glad Hughes is showing signs... bodes well for his England tour.
Only watched the last half hour, but got to say, I reckon Pattinson could be a handful on that deck if he gets his length right.

Patto is a handful on most decks if he gets it right.

Khawaja needs to go on the Aussie A tour to england and make plenty of runs. I don;t think Smith will be good in England, but he seems to have potentially put himself on the plane with the last few innings.

Funny, we were talking about Cowan at the start of the tour, but Warner needs to watch his back too for mine

Warner is such a hit or miss player. His aura is that he can win a test off his own bat. Problem is that his strike rate is one in ten.

He's apparently had a falling out with Clarke. explains why he makes squads and the like but never gets a look in.

Which is why Captains shouldn't be selectors.

Impressive from Lyon. Makes you wonder where that bowling has been since day one on tour. Granted, India targeted him pretty heavily, but he didn't really take his chance early doors.

Reckon Maxwell will be a handful in the last innings if they have something to bowl at. Seems like one of those guys that is a natural wicket-taker.

Don't particularly agree with you on Maxwell TBS, but India were dragging themselves back into the game a long long time before Watson finally decided to give him a go.

Maxwell reminds me of SCG McGill. Got pretty of wickets from burley.

Lyon made the selectors look like clowns again.

Why on earth he got dropped for the second test is beyond me especially after getting 4 wickets in the first test.
Beats me.

They'll all be on a flight home tonight
