Bailey isn't a great driver of the ball. Also quite limited in his shot making too.

Yeah, just isn't fluent or something.

I don't think either Cowan or Bailey are test propositions to be honest. But I place them on about the same level.
Bailey bats behind the crease waiting for the shortball. not possible to drive well playing like that. England have worked him out I reckon. If he keeps trying to pull with a stacked field he won't last much longer.

Same number as Phil Hughes.

Over 2012 and 13, Watson's average is 31. In the he has the 176 he made at The Oval which is nearly 20% if his run total for the period. Take that out he averages 26.

He has only passed 50 three times in two years.
I think Watson is in the team because as much as he sucks he does seem to get a start and take some shine off the ball before Clarke comes in. Contrast with Hughes who is a bit too much all or nothing. Essentially our batting strategy is built around one of warner and Clarke scoring big with the others chipping in. Patience must be wearing thin though.

See, I don't think patience is wearing thin. He is set an exceedingly low bar to jump for a test #3. The amount of latitude he gets for the output is astonishing.

Yep. Its a shame Faulkner hurt his hand. Would much prefer him to Watson. Looks to put a price on his wicket which is an improvement already.

If Watson gets replaced/dropped, I want a batsman. This continuing experiment with trying to find an all-rounder at the expense of a specialist batsman annoys me.

Tom Moody on Ben Stokes:

"You have to ask yourselves is he a batting allrounder or bowling all-rounder?"

"He has to be good enough to bat at number 6 and score centuries to be a batting allrounder"

"And if he's not that, then he has to be able to bowl as one of the three main fast men and pick-up 5-fors and be a bowling all-rounder"

Love to hear his thoughts on Shane Watson.

@OptaJim: 5 - All five of @davidwarner31's Test centuries have come in Australia - he averages 60.8 at home and 25.2 away. Preference. #Ashes

Gees these bloody KFC ads with green and gold hats whistling Waltzing matildas are starting to pee me off.

About Australian as Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Oh, yes. And the absurdity of the Australian team hanging around some casual carpark game eating chicken and going out to wild swings is kind of dumb too.
